i was wandering , do grenades in PR do to much damage ? my thinking is that grenades r used to stun or injury rather than kill , also wiki says:

"Modern fragmentation grenades such as the United States 'M67 baseball' have a wounding radius of 15 m "

now this dosnt seam that much , and it says wounding not kill aswell . Also on shootout (an amazing series) and american got blown up 3 times with grenades and didnt die , and they were real close. what do u guys think ? mabye if blown by a grenade u lose health of course but get stunned like ur view is blury and stuff ?

I think they at least should make you bleed very much (coughing teargas view). Shrapnel is the killer with grenades... If a shrapnel hit you from 20 meters it will kill you ( head/neck/chest), unlikely though, but possible.

but would it ? cause like i said , this US guy (body armor on of course) gets blow up 3 times from like 3m and dosnt die , is cut up of course, but body armor can (sometimes) stop 7.62 , can shrapnel from a grenade cut through it ?

Ok, your character is about 2 metres high, so from that work out 15 metres, throw a grenade over there, and you'll see you get bleed damage from that far away, not an instant kill - simulating fragments and the shock wave hitting you.

Actually, Wikipedia is right in most cases, and can generally be trusted in cases of "cold" issues, such as weapons and technical issues. If you are going to post about a "hot" issue, like the Iraq war, then you might want to use some other site.

on my page it dose not mention fatalaty range. and some 1 must of watched that episode of shootout, think it was the fallujah 1 were a guy gets blown up 3 times pointblank and dosnt die? any 1 ? it was a good series.

some people are just lucky. people have accidentally shot nails through their skull and other freak accidents and somehow lived by a margin because it just misses the most important bits of the brain.

IMO grenades are deadly explosives and you'd be very lucky to survive if one went off near you.

Grenades are not rifles. They do not aim and shoot. The explode, sending shrapnel everywhere, but by nature, the spread of shrapnel is random. Add to that the position that someone is in at the time of the explosion, and it becomes very possible that any shrapnel that reaches you will be stopped by your body armor.

Also, you don't want to be anywhere near a grenade when it goes off. Just because the official wounding radius is 15m doesn't mean all shrapnel hits a forcefield 15m from the grenade - most of it will slow down to a point where it won't be as deadly, but pieces of shrapnel can still fly over long distances.

i know , thats what im saying , i just used 15m as a reference to try back up my idea.

and dont patronise me by telling me what a grenade is , i do know.

and i also know that within 15m u can still not be hit , and know theres not a "forcefield"

I think though the situation of 15m wounded is a bit misleading. If in the 15m radius and struck with shrapnel you may not die. However if you sat there after the gernade went of (contimplating how cool it all was) you would bleed out and die. So perhaps in todays military with a focus on evac of the wounded and healing the wounded (even the enemy) the gernades are not creating the statistics to reflect there lethality. Just a thought

Most of the time, you don't die but get critically wounded...

"The M67 FG produces casualties within an effective range of 49.5 feet (15 meters) by the high velocity projection of fragments. The effective casualty-producing radius is 15 meters. ALTHOUGH THE KILLING RADIUS IS 5 METERS AND THE CASUALTY PRODUCING RADIUS OF THIS GRENADE IS 15 METERS, FRAGMENTS CAN DISPERSE AS FAR AWAY AS 230 METERS."

End of story.

Dont make that realistic, I dont want to lose an eye and bleed out some place random, because some nade popped 200 m away in the open :p

next thing you know we'll all be dropping like flies from the trajectory of random sprays of bullets from miles away. dunno if you've heard of civilians getting shot dead in their gardens from cop/gang shootouts blocks away from their home.

same will all those mexicans who fire up into the air to celebrate, children have died from those coming back down too.

think of the children! :)

I think nades are fine as it is. I actually like the fact that you can get a kill with them without throwing it on the guys lap.
