I have been playing on a Server thats has ABR, I believe i am retaining my scores, I have ranked up and it seems to remember it, but when I was talking to a person in my squad they said I needed to have some cleint side software install for ABR to retain my stats. Whats he talking about.
Oh yeah, just wanted to say, If there are no stats being recorded, I am fine with that to. I don't worry to much about stats, maybe frag rate though.

So I don't need to download and run something, I couldn't find where it gave a answer for it. The FAQ seemed to be messed up.

I think this should cover it. Copy/pasted from another thread. Oh, and by the way ... ABR is currently "out of order". Might be ressurected in the near future. or not.

From the top, once again.
As you already know, PR does not use the same ranking system as vBF2. v standing for "vanilla" and means original and not modded version of BF2. PR
can use an alternative ranking system called
Alternative
Battlefield
Ranking.
Since no servers hosting PR are official BF2 servers, they are all privatly funded. It is up to them to decide if they want to have ABR on their server. Some choose not to and some do. You can usually find the ones who have ABR by looking at their names. F.example the Helix server: "HeliX #1 PR 0.509 ABR RANKED"
This is the reason why you can look at xfire and see (f.example) 1000 hours played and in ABR only 300 hours played.
In regards to getting promoted several times when joining a ABR server, the - bah - I wont bother with the technical explenation -
Solution: Download the ABR Client. You can do so
here. ABR's mainpage can be found here:
http://www.battlefieldranking.net/
Start up the ABR client. Your username and password is identical to your BF2 account. Now, start up BF2. Click on BFHQ and voila. You will now get "promoted" once again. Annoying yes, but ... Disconnect ABR and choose any ABR hosted server and you will see that the game now remembers your rank.
If you want to read more about this, you can go to ABR's page, or you can use the handy search function on this forum. It has tons of information about ranks and ABR.
Happy hunting.

There is no way I'm putting in my BF2 user/pwd into some untrusted 3d party app.
