Scout Helicopters and commanders

With the removal of the satellite feed for the commander, hes a little blind as of now, relying only on his little squad leaders and his trusty SOFLAM.
now one important aspect of this suggestion is that i am not asking for a super 1337 command helicopter with 1 million times zoom. i'm not even asking for a new model. (i usually try to keep my suggestions dev friendly)
anyways, i'm suggesting that the commander can deploy another vehicle, the scout helo (eurocopter, lynx, littlebird, whatever the PLA has). now, i dont want it to be spawned anywhere, just within range of the main flag.
why?
when a commander spawns a command truck hes more likely than not going to drive it, the same thing applies to the scout helo, only he doesn't fly it. this gives the commander more advantages than ever.
- It's just like the Sat view, only you can die
- if the Lynx is flying behind a formation of challengers and gets shredded by a tunguska, the british chain of command will be crippled for a few seconds, which splits squads up leaving them vulnerable to attack.
- noobs are less likely to hop in a LB and flip it (commander would assign a good pilot to him)
- since the commander has more responsibilities he needs to be more places at once, faster transit speeds.
- no more inconvenient spawn times it's CHOPPER ON DEMAND! (with a ticket price)
- next to attack choppers a good pilot in a scout chopper can survive for up to 30 minutes. (easy to fly, maneuverable)
we all know if all the other aircraft are gone and there is a LB a noob is going to get it and either
A: try and mow down an armored column of T-90s with a minigun
B: attempt a headstand.
why not get rid of that and give our commander a noob-controlled command platform.
and if the commander is not using it at the moment a sabotage squad can request it to drop saboteurs behind enemy lines, everyone wins, except the people we don't want flying these assets.
in short, either let the commander deploy his limo, or let a bunch of teenagers steal it and crash it into a tree
thanks for reading

OOOOOO
This would open up a few tactical advantages. Now only will the teams with commanders stand a better chance at winning, but now the teams with the extremely good commanders have an even better chance.
I think this would set apart the special few out there.
I agree!

I really like the idea. LB with one seat only and no guns...for reconnaissance missions. I don`t think we need the possibility to transport troops or to attack the enemy with it.

It should have two seats: one for the pilot, and one for the commander. Since the commander actually has to do some commanding, he needs to have his hands free for that. Piloting a chopper and using the command screen is practically impossible.
If the commander had his own copilot seat, it would allow him to provide recon when he doesn't have to do anything else, and command when he needs to (still leaving a pilot to do some reconnaissance). When commanding, I already like taking rides in choppers when seats are available, as that usually lets me take a closer look at what the squads are actually doing out there (this changed now that commander assets are available, though).

I'm being slow... i dont get it DarkTalon.
are you saying the Commander flies around in a littlebird?
if not who does?
edit:.. at present you cant even drive down a straight road and use the commander screen, let alone fly. So if you are suggesting the commander does all commands through broadcasting to all squads using 'V' over voip.. i dont like it..its very limiting and annoying for SLs.

I think hes talking about providing the commander with the ability to spawn a scout 'copter (at the cost of a few tickets) which would grant the commander the ability to use his satillite window again, he wouldnt have to fly it but can spawn it for a chosen pilot to fly for him providing reconnaissance...
one question i have is will this be a sort of camera view attached to the chopper or just the normal scroll ability from vanilla?

no, just a normal two seat scout helo (LB)
also remember the commander can only get the officer kit, so he cant fly, he must assign a good pilot to fly him around, and he can use his soflam combined with voip to command squads on the ground.
the helo also provides him transport to a bunker or defensive emplacement his team is working on. but the concept is very simple, commander spawns a two seat scout helo, thats it.

Love this idea, I would dedicate myself to 24/7 commander pilot.
Little bird would act as an excellent (Coalition) place holder until a model is made up. Same as Euro copter for Op forces.

the only problem is, the eurocopter has 3 seats, but i guess it compensates for the view issues (can only see one side of the helo at a time).

Giving these choppers a camera, similar to that of the attack choppers, would alleviate the limited view angle problems.

Well remember these would only be place holders. Eventually being replaced by the Kiowa, Lynx (Recon Mod), Euro copter (Recon mod) and what ever else is used.
(Love the idea about using the gun cam for more in depth viewing.

this idea would mean i can finally reveal my piloting skills with nifty scout helicopters.
However, i would like to see the supply truck changed so that it could also be the Chinook (which is being modeled). This would simulate a supply drop of some sort, give the comm more maneuverability, and also mean that the Chinook or whatever helicopter would be more of a prime target for enemy and a prime responsibility for the comm and his pilots.
This idea would probably go to pot on pubbing but would definantly work on a tournament or campaign.

I've been getting little 2 man squads do this for me in Kashan. ie, sticking them in the LB and getting them to fly ahead of the main force and calling back intel. It's the only thing that it's good for on that map. Having it available on all maps is a good idea but opens itself up to massive exploitation.

Awsome idea. I try to get the SL in the passenger seat to spot/arty for me but it never seems to work. Most of the time he spots the windshield of the LB.

No. It should just have a pilot who can spot himself just fine.

obviously the devs can limit it on small infantry based maps, and remember it can only be spawned at the main.

That makes it just a chopper that commander gives away when he feels like it.

Oooh speaking of commander deployed helis what about a commander deployed Chinook on some maps instead of the commander truck, maybe on larger or more mountainous maps? Good enough excuse to have one yet? Probably not.
Like the scout heli idea though.
