A few questions from a new member...

...sorry to ask questions in my very first post but there are a few things I'd love to know more about:

1. PR is obviously a more tactical, realistic experience. Do games, however, work in the same style as BF2? That is to say, is it all about killing to reduce tickets and capturing flags? I've seen some very nice videos (The PR Diaries) and it seems far more objective-based than anything else. I mean, I'd hate to spend 20 minutes expertly surrounding and capturing a CP before moving on and having some lone enemy run in and capture it back in 15 seconds...

2. v0.5 is 1.5GB. Should I just wait for 0.6 to come out shortly to save a lot of time in terms of downloading (and the bandwidth)

3. I read something about grapple hooks, how do they work? Is it like in Special Forces?

1. yes - although capturing flags must be done in order as opposed to the BF2 style of wack a mole. Objective based maps are planned but are not ready yet

2. Maybe as 0.6 will be another full download - although 0.6 is delayed for at least another few weeks, so you will definitely get a reasonably good idea of what the game is about if you get 0.5. And it is quite excellent

3. Yes, except I think you can also climb down with them in PR. Limited to a select few maps for Blufor engineers and insurgent riflemen have one as well

The key to survival is in numbers - stick to your squad leader like glue and try to join squads called Voip. You will be easily frustrated by the non stop death streaks that all new comers suffer unless you stick to a squad - more squad mates = more targets for the enemy :D

1. No..It takes a while to capture a base and you also have to have at least 2 people.

2. Get the 0.6 beta. There are a lot of changes and you don't want to get used to 0.5 now.

3. Never played special forces, but you push e on them and can climb up them. It's pretty neat.

I havent played 0.5 since DLing the Beta, 0.6 and is as good as teh testers say it is.

1. Not really, - There is only 1 or 2 flags you can cap at a time, Flag order, for example, If Karkand was AAS v2 it would be Outpost (the US first spawn, sorry havent played vanilla in a year) then hotel, then square then Suburs and/or train wreck, Concret plant and/or (MEC tank Spawn north) then warehouse then MEC main. you can only cap flags with 2 people and while you cant spawn on flags, the cap time is long enohpe for you to run back in time.
2. 0.6 will be released in ether this week or next week, 'imminent count down' in Mod-time. although each release introduces new game play changes unlike other mods with new maps and vehicles, so you may want to take a crash course in 0.5.
3. Hooks; LMB to throw, RMB to drop down, E to enter, F to pick up, Space to bail.
