Commander's optimal zoom

Hey
couln't find any topics about this, sorry if there's one already.
Since the optical zoom of the commander has been disabled in v0.6, I came up with the idea to make it a commander asset.
Commander puts down a satelite-device (just the Scan-thingy in vbf2 or something) and can have optical zoom for X amount of time, like 20 seconds. Then it needs to recharge for X amount of time. This would be realistic, since satelites which provide this zoom can't just stop moving in space to provide camarafootage.
This would give the commander the time to have a look at (for example) a flag, and spot possible enemy locations before he lets a squad move into that area.
Is this possible?

That has got be the best answer to the UAV question I have heard.
Limited, balanced and it sounds easy to implement.
If it could be tied to the command post ( UAV ) trailer that would be even better.

Are there recon satellites which are able to stream a "movie" of what they see somewhere?
If not,I'd suggest that you kinda make it like a picture-machine.
So,the commander could use the recon sat asset, this would trigger to make but one picture of the whole battlefield in the highest zoom which the commander could look at,but it won't be actualised until the com uses the asset again to make a new pic.
And the only way i could imagine a proper UAV simulation would be as following:
The commander uses the UAV-Trailer,an UAV is spawned and the com's sights are bound to it via a tv-like cam(like those in the cobra/apache) with which he can spot stuff. The UAV can be shot down by ballistic AA and would work only x minutes until it runs out of fuel.

The main diffewrnce in ideas I see is that his idea rquires a timer on CO video and your requires new models and coding.

geosynch satellites can mainatain one position above the earth, however i think something like a kiowa with an attack helicopter like zoom would be way better,
- requires a skilled pilot
- can be shot down
- enemy has an idea of where the commanders attention is focused (more developed flanking)

Why don't we just have someone fly an AWACS plane around?

Thats been suggested before.

can you not have some one who controls the UAV from the ground and that will give the commander a view of some of the battle field that the UAV is flying over and the higher the UAV is the more of the battle field can be seen but not as zoomed in.

That's been suggested before.

You probably want
JSTARS. AWACS is for aircraft management only.
