New Effects Pack I Would Like To See Implemented Into The Mod

Phew long title... Actually come to think of it, it is not even all that new.

Anyway I really love this mod (Project Reality), and I really want them to incorporate this little mod (My Mod) that I made. It really makes the battles seem more realistic, and really adds tension as you see the smoke build up as firefights go on. This is something that is really hard to show in pictures/movies. It is really best to play for yourself.

This may be old news for some of the TotalBF2ers here but what the heck, why not?

VIDEOS <- May take awhile to load.

Generic Chaos 2

MEC Gets Mowed Down, Then Retaliates (This one shows a lot of the new ground hit effects)

Firefight and Shotgun (Man I really love my new shotgun smoke :D )

2 Question FAQ

1. Is it realistic?

Yes and no. Firearms in real life emit much more smoke than they do fire/flash (well as far as the human eye can see anyway). This mod basically replaces all muzzleflashes with two smoke effects. A short term smoke that you see everytime you fire, and a long term that lingers around for quite some time. Short answer, yes it is realistic because there is more smoke. No because it is a little overdone :D

2. How does it run?

This is a toughie. Mileage may vary. On my computer the mod hardly effected performance, I actually did not notice a difference at all. My friend told me that it cut about 5-10 frames. Not too bad considering what it does. It really should not matter though. BF2 automatically scales all effects, so for example if you are already playing on medium settings the effects will have as much a performance hit as they would if they were on high. In theory anyway...

I swear I spent 30 minutes writing and editing this post. :-P

youre right, it is a little overdone (looks like theyre using muskets!!) but there is something to adding a little more smoke, since that is realistic.

I like the smoke effect, But it shouldnt linger like that. Maybe tanks and stuff, if even that. Put I think the smoke on shot would be cool.

I wonder if you played it yourself, you might change your mind just because its so fun and cool looking. It is really one of those awesome/cinematic vs. realism debates. Honestly though in your typical battle it is not that bad. It is very tough to take a picture or movie of the mod. I ended up with about 50 movies and only a handful look like the above pictures and movies.

But that's not to say that it can get out of hand. Especially if you go out of your way to make smoke ;)

i like it increased on the bullets hitting walls, just not so much on the weapon firing.

the guns them selves i think would not create smoke becuse they use smoke less powder as there main charge, the dirt smoke i thik may be over kill but i could not tell how many bulets were shot so it might be alright. (could not watch the videos.
