Map Idea Afghanistan [Insurgency/Push]

Sorry for long post! please read :)

I reckon it would be dope to have an Afghanistan style map, where British Forces are attacking insurgents in a small town (small buildings/low walls/mud huts) somewhere in Helmand Province (THE ACTUAL PLACE NOT THE PR MAP).

The Brits would start in the desert behind a hill or ridge or something a fair distance from the village.
They will only have one road into down, there wont be much cover and a clean desert. They will spawn with a large amount of Landrovers (and the other vehicle it slips me mind) and 1 or 2 Warriors.

The Insurgents will have full control of the town, they will have 3 spawns (rally looking spawns - not cars) crossing the front of the town, these will be slightly set back from the edge of the town but still close (so they cant be directly fired upon from the desert). These will be destructable and inside destructable buildings.

The insurgents will spawn here to defend the edge of the town, there'll be a wall surrounding the town, many enterable/destructable buildings and several emplaced machine guns/sandbags. This is where the insurgents will fight the oncoming Brits. There will probably be decent firefights here and the buildings may end up quite destroyed. There will be scattered trees/bushes.

Once the british destroy one of the insurgants spawn points, the spawn will respawn in a position deeper into the town (in metres, maybe 50 - 100/200, thus creating another line of defense) If a spawn point is destroyed it will not reappear though the insurgents can still fight to regain land + defensive positions to the front of the town.

Once the british destroy all the frontal spawnpoints they can set their own rallies in buildings etc (may be possible to code/maybe not - could possibly be done by having them distance limited from enemy rally points).

The brits will then head further into the town and take out the next set of insurgent spawns working their way through the town in intense door to door fighting. The main street will still head through the town until it gets fairly deep then there'll be a roadblock, the convoy would stop here.

Once all the outlying insurgent spawns are destroyed, the final spawn will spawn in the centre of the village (rear of combat area on map) in the police station. This is where the insurgents make their final stand. The police station would be a large 2 storey building with some walls around it, many windows and a few sandbags. When the british destroy this spawn they have won the round and secured the town.

The insurgents will have spawnable weapons scattered throughout the map, with a decent amount of RPGs.

The brits could (POSSIBLEY) spawn with an M82

The british advantage is their firepower, they must use teamwork/suppressive fire from the landrovers/warrior etc to try and push as far as they can into the town.

The insurgent advantage is they're fighting on homeground and they'll get all the good positions/close spawns/lower spawn rates etc They can also set ambushes on the road etc

The British disadvantage is that there will be a large flat desert plain on the road into the town which will be a generous field of fire for the concealed insurgents.

The insurgents disadvantage is the destroyable buildings which will give them less and less cover as the battle rages on. They also have their less inaccurate weapons and no vehicles.

If the brits use the extent of their .50 calibers and provide heavy suppresive fire towards insurgent positions it should not be too hard for them to get close to the town. On the other hand if the insurgents dig in well and support each other covering all angles they could bring quite the standoff for the Brits.

I think this would provide a good variety of long range combat and CQB aswell as providing a realistic sort of scenario as to how alot of British operations are going in Afghanistan. And anyones lying if they dont want to see a map wrecked after a couple hours of fighting :)

While its awesome fun doing all the flanking/position changing of many of the AAS maps, alot of battles fought now and throughout history take place with an opposing enemy meeting another enemy on heavily dug in ground, this is somewhat lacking in PR IMO.

This first image shows a rough idea of the map, the desert to the North East would be the british entry.

However bring the second image closer to the desert area (skip the farmland) The Courtyard in the middle of the pic could be the police station. Also add more houses closer together for closer CQB.

cheers for your time :)

There already is a Helmand province map actually, though it isn't exactly like what you described.

You're going to need BF2 Editor, which can be obtained from the EA site.
There are plenty of User Created BF2 Editor tutorials out there, and also check in by the Community Modding section.

That's all I can help you with, I'm not into mapping. (I started though, but never finished).

In other words;
Map suggestions are usually never fulfilled.

oh well that may be but they can at least look at it, or even just the gameplay mode as an alternative insurgancy mode.
