PR forums more popular than the mod?

On any given day, about 600 people visit the forums yet only about 100 play on 20 empty servers. What gives?

alot more than 100people playing the game...
servers are split between .5 and .6 beta and the different times bring different players..
more like 500-600 players in agiven day

You're comparing apples to oranges.
Yes about 600 registered members visit the forums every day, but about 2,000 players are online in the servers over the course of a day.
Simultaneous player numbers fluctuate between 100 and 500 players every day on PR recently.

During the daytime the .6 servers are pretty slow.
(A few days a week I work from home...not that I would actually logon to play..I was just uhm...checking to see if anyone was on...)

Here in Australia the BigD server is empty during the day but once night comes it starts filling up.
Probly same all over the world, during the day they are empty but once the afternoon comes you start to get players in your area playing.

I'm one of those who visit regularly every day, two or three times at least.
And I don't play either.......sad eh?
Been following this mod since day one. Big changes in a relatively short time too.
Why I like this mod,...... love the extreme realism.(well relatively, as games go.)
When I get broadband I'll definitely be dropping by a server.

600 people may visit the forums, but do they spend more time here than play time?

Some people come on the forums as guests, login and a turn into members.
Therefore count as two people.
Unless ofcourse it doesn't work that way.
You also have Spambots and other leeches.

Like El_Vikingo.
I find with the beta right now its more difficult to find solid numbers. I usually go to play and find the TG server is full and then the next server has 12 players on it. I will wait around for a slot on the TG for a bit but usually end up just switching to RO for the night. Once the beta is over life should be good again.

I know i have told a few people about this mod, most of them are waiting for 0.6 to come out as its so close and they dont want to confuse themselves with playing a bit of 0.5 and 0.6 beta first, they are just happy to wait.
Im not sure if i am lookign forward or not to the new influx, more people on servers is always good, but at the moment i know most teams i join are relatively experianced

That is exactly my observation. Hopefully the next official release will bring players out of the woodwork.

If you want lots of players, play 0.5, not the beta

I only ever play in 2 of all the beta servers. I know that if I go elsewhere, I might not find the same levels of teamwork. I guess others think like me as well, and that's why we have one or two packed servers, and the rest of them empty.
Also, browsing the forums is something you can do while doing other things. Playing a game requires your constant undivided attention, and you usually don't just hop into the game for 5 minutes at various points throughout the day.

That is the only bad thing I have to say about the open beta. It sort of split the PR community. The majority of the dedicated community members started playing the open beta. Leaving .5 without the core of it's players that use teamwork. The other night I couldn't find a beta server that had more then 15 total players. So I went to play .5 and the teamwork was lacking big time. No CO, no talking within the squad. It was just awful. Very un-PR like. So I'm looking forward to the full release of .6 so that the community is whole again

yeah, I quit playing to focus on Maya 7 and Zbrush3 and Real Flow 4 and all the video tutorials for them I've got but come .6 release I'll be back. Damn those are some good looking maps...just the kind I like...big real world maps that make it feel more real...
