history of PR.. a bittersweet story

this night i have spent some time checking older threads in this forum.
back in the "older days", it seems, for me that people were looking forward to bf2 to come out. testing the demo and was very happy about they saw. servers who were capable to run with 128 players. Nice graphics and gameplay. those devs who already had joined lived in a dreamworld, it seems. happy, not knowing what to come in the future. Days went by, untill one day, EA released BF2 full game v1,0.
then the work started. mapping. tweaking the game. everyone worked like hell to release PRMM 0,1. it got released. people celebrated. Then disaster struck - patch 1,01 was released. devs had to check if it were any problems to play vbf2 and prmm at the same time, realising bf2 engine was really hard to code/tweak. the devs had such great plans for this game. now they had to struggle with annoying patches (fixes), since DICE and EA didnt do enough with this game was released. grief took them. thinking money before joy. new maps, weapons, rankingsystems, everything got more complex each time a new patch came out. giving the already hard-struggeling devs and beta testers to the limits in PR.
however. PR devs are a stubbern kind of human livings. they didnt give up. even, they couldnt do that they wanted with bf2 as the wanted. due to the hard coded bf2 engine.
later (fall, winter 06) more people discovered PR. more and more flooded the servers and this forum. the community was growing each day. getting more and more popular. now it is one of the largest bf2 mod communities existing on this planet. several of thousands of people play PR every week. some does not know how, this mod was born. and grew big and strong. all regards to those who have been into this project from the beginning. you have done something even the publisher never did! making a hell of a good game!
tho.. when i read the forum from time to time, i see people are nagging about this mod. "omg there is something wrong with my c4 thingy", and such.
i feel with all those who have done so much for this mod, even without getting paid for it. using whatever spare time they have.
i hope, next time the devs find a new game to mod, if they do. i hope they do the right choice. to choose a game they can tweak however they like. without limits.
For now. keep up the good work guys.
i hope someone will notice what kind of good work you have put into this project.
