I would look into it. Remember, this is like RL, so try to make it as real as possible. If they use a certain gun IRL, then it should be used IG.

Light Support Weapon doesn't mean it has to be a fully automatic belt fed machine gun.

L86A2 is the rifle the british faction use as a marksman, because it's the one that can deliver fast accurate fire on distances of up to 800 metres.

...and it's the one they use in real life.

erm, what about the 30 round mag, the slow rate of fire and lack of quick change barrel?

LSW is a DMR IRL

quote from some one who is in raf reg "The LSW's main role tho, is the longer range, so enemy can be engaged from a longer distance, with both single shots, and repitition!"

also what would the new marksman rifle be if u did replace the LSW ?

What's the difference between the DMR and the scoped SA-80 in game? I'm not implying that it should be taken out but I'm kinda curious. Seems to be a tad more accurate without as much bullet drop but that might just be psychosomatic.

Last thing we need is a marksman rifle that looks more like a sniper rifle, therefore encouraging sniperwhores to grab it when the sniper rifle is unavailable.

It was.

It has been replaced in that role by the L110A1 LMG (FN Minimi Para). The L86A2 is now the section DMR.

The M249 is a place holder for the L110A1.

"L86A2, formally known as the Light Support Weapon (LSW) was rebranded as a DMR when the British Army replaced it in the section machine-gun role with the Minimi"

Robbo, what have we told you about using wiki as a source? :p

But in this case, it is correct.

I hate the LSW as it is, I'd hate it even more if it replaced the 249.

Is there really nothing better that could be used as a marksman gun? Pretty please?

Nope, its the British army DMR (though imo thats an excuse not to say "OK, its rubbish and we should have bought the minimi in the first place"). Its rubbish, and that aint gunna change.

Higher velocity round due to longer barrel. Other than that, I don't know.

1. The scope gives the shooter a wider field of view

2. It's zeroed to 600m as opposed to the L85 (300m)

well to be fair - it makes an excellent assault rifle: very accurate, relatively short and effective
