Rant, but I still love this mod.

Ok I have alotta beefs right now, especially when I played last night. I don't think it's this mod's problem but with BF2 itself.

There needs to be more definitive resources on the following.

Granted my specs are nowhere near godly, they should perform average

p4 3.0ghz prescott
1 gig OCZ pc4200 ram
160gig HD
radeon x800 gto2 256mb

So I turn every process and program off, before I start to play

- Logging into my account takes literally around 2 minutes or more

- Ok now loading time, this varies so much it isnt funny, load time is slow but steady. HOWEVER when it gets to verifying client data. this i dont exagerate take around 5 MINUTES, feels like more though

- and once im in game, i get 10 minutes of stuttering and lag

- now all that is IF i don't crash after i click the JOIN GAME button

Ingame beefs :

- I used to love flying with a helo, in DC and then vBF2, I use a joystick nothing fancy. but now you've taken the fun out of it, it's impossible
I can use the keyboard and mouse, but i want to use a joystick, it feels better

All in all, after a combined 15 - 20 minutes of getting into a game, the game is either ending, or all the good squads are picked, flags are captured

I have searched other forums, like bf2s and some people reported having great system specs, but having the same trouble.

First thing.... use this https://www.realitymod.com/forum/showth ... 323&page=2
Makes the load much faster to the browser.
Turn all your settings to low except textures which is on medium.
I have a similiar system w/ a 128mg vid card and I don't have those problems.
Good Luck

As far as I know, you can delete the Shader configs located at
My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
And everything in LogoCache which will clear out all the stuff that accumulates, which I've found decreases log on time.

The start of game lag is down to your lone GB of RAM. Grab another GB.
I found tightening my timings back when I had 1GB improved it.
Make sure the processes you kill before running BF2 includes Explorer. Then run BF2 from Run in the Task Manager - Also helps.

Your CPU should be fine, unless your airflow isn't up to much and it's thermally throttling itself.

Gotta face it, man (just like I did). 1g of ram is not enough to run this mod smoothly. Its time for us to upgrade. I have a similar problem to you. i'm running a

P4 2.4 gig
1gig of RAM
80gig HD
GeforceFX 5600

PR is right on the threshold of being playable or not. It is mostly the map and the terrain that determines how well I can play. Some maps I can play pretty well and with others I have to lower view distance and other settings to run fairly smoothly.

I had to simply admit that if I wanted to continue playing this mod, I had to deal with the hardship it inflicts on my current rig and make plans to upgrade. In my case, i'm building a completely new machine with will more than be able to handle PR. That is how much I love that mod. My new rig is gonna have no less than 4 gigs of RAM.

I would suggest adding a gig of ram and upgrading your gpu. Just adding a second gig of ram helped improve the performance of several of my own team members in PR.

PR is far more RAM intensive than vanilla BF2. 2 Gigs is the minimum for an easy, smooth experience to be honest.

I can run everything on high (AA at 0) and get into games with a minute 30 left and i only have a 2.21 GHz, radeon x650 gto, and 2 gigs of ram.

seriously, buy 2 more sticks of 512 if you got the slots for it, its not too expensive. and if you really can't afford it, just put your settings lower.

and also take the advice of clearing out your screen shots folder and the what is it? logos cache folder? i did that simple thing and it cleared up teh verifying problem i had ages ago.

maybe its time to reformat even.

The log on screen taking forever is because it is checking all your favorite servers. Go into your Mydocs and BF2 folder and find your user profile (usually 0001) then I think it's the general.con and find all the entries for Servergfavorites and delete them. Mine used to take MIN and now it's seconds.

As far as the game loading slow and stutter when you first join, you need more RAM. If the light for your HD is blinking when you get into the game when you experience the suttering, it's because you don't have enough ram and you are using the page file to load stuff which is SLOW. 2gig RAM will make a huge difference.

Account load times is a BF2 thingy-ma-bobber

My documents > BattleField 2 > Profiles > Then if your profile is #2 on the list where you select, double click it > Open up general.con >

Scroll down until you find something like

GeneralSettings.addServerHistory "24.215.116.205" 29900 "MAP TEST *DEVIL's TOWER" 9
GeneralSettings.addServerHistory "69.65.39.69" 29900 "PR 0.6 Test by Warrior Nation" 22
GeneralSettings.addServerHistory "66.102.113.9" 29900 "*Devils Brigade [0.607RC1] OPEN BETA" 37
GeneralSettings.addServerHistory "64.34.161.157" 29900 "TacticalGamer.com - PR .609 - 62 Open Slots" 276

And delete those (NOTHING ELSE). Everytime you login it has to load those, so get rid of those and it will take just a couple of seconds.

The real question is....will 3 gigs of ram give you a boost? Who ever has 1 gig...go spend 30 bucks and get another gig.

I've also been getting crashes now, and I have 2GB of RAM and a stable system, except that I am running Vista which could be the reason for something being rotten.

the "verifying" time is reduced by getting a faster hard drive. It was also very slow for me and I got a fatser (7200 rpm) drive and the verifying part reduced to mere seconds.

Also, i second the "get another gig of ram" dealie.
