When Vanilla Attacks!

OK to start off I must say I love 0.6 and just how great the team is. Keep it up! Today I was playing raid on Moskye as a British rifleman. My game started with my own team shooting me in the back and I wasted a bandage trying to patch myself up . After I left the spawn area (thats right), I joined a rather silent squad and I headed south towards gunfire. I could hardly believe what I saw; There was a literal wall of insurgents standing in the open wandering around a flag. I thought they were civillians (mostly due to the overall lack of attention to the world around them) until one of them pulled out an AK-47. I shot him in the head. I have never seen so many in one place, not since... VBF2.
I fired a whole clip making several more headshots, a few were running. I could hardly believe it, they didn't move to cover or return fire! I just kept firing until they captured the flag and headed towards me. I took cover (finally) and had killed a total of 9 in one sitting! It was surreal. It finally dawned on me that these people I was playing with had absolutley no clue as to what was going on. Time for some fun. I saw a file of them walk up the opposing beach parallel to me and no matter how many I shot they just kept coming, oblivious to the deaths of the guys around them. They would be hit and not move to a any rather obvious pieces of cover. I ended with 25 kills and 5 deaths. (two were tks).
But right now I must say 0.6, despite its glory is filled with people from vanilla BF2 and my first impressions haven't been particularly pleasant. I played 5 rounds and only found 1 person with voip, been purposefully tk'd 3 times for a kit and I lost track of how many times from friendly fire. While squad leader I was generally ignored and being commander was even worse. This is all a stark contrast to the teamwork and overall more fun that I had with the people in the 0.607-4 beta testing. I certainly hope that this isn't a lasting effect of combining the community. Thoughts?

Don't worry, this happens with every new release. And without SSMing, the tards will go and the die-hards will stay.

Only play with people you know, then you will find the same teamwork like in 0.5 and all other versions already.

Oh, come on. Treat this as a realistic simulation of the training and experience levels of real life insurgents in Iraq.

Jeez, no kidding. I was playing Basrah just a few hours ago and there were piles upon piles of executed civies. Sure a few of us off'd a civy or two in the open beta, but this was like nothing I've ever seen before.
Next round in Keshan I must have killed like 20 USMC with a tank at the crossroads CP (in one sitting). It was very satisfying to see clusters of troops fly into the air from a single shell.

Give it a few times...alot of newcomers with releases as its mostly published on most notorious gamesite (IE: Fileplanet)...give them time to get used to the mod. When you see you're in a squad full of vBF2 converts enforce squad play even if you're not SL...they will slowly learn the roots. To be honest..when I first started playing that game It was difficult for me to return fire when i was pined down...you get used to the new mechanics slowly.
Otherwise dont worry. People will see if its fit for them.and if its not they'll leave saying this mod sucks

the usual shit.

Speaking of killing civies, I was playing on DVB as the USMC. i was able to go 58 and 5 with my sweet 16 (M16), but we managed to lose 707 to 0...

heh yeah typical cycle. I played a lot fo the Open Beta because it was like how v0.6 will be in a couple weeks .. much more teamwork and clued in player base.
I know we kinda look like dickheads with our "position" against server side modding (especially me heh) but this fubar period after releases is something we'd like to see dissipate as quickly as possible and get back to some tactical gaming.

I wouldn't say you were the ones looking like dickheads
It's true that every new release comes with it's share of new players. Many will leave, but some will learn to enjoy tactical gaming like most of us did at some point. (I think it's somewhat seldom for someone to be introduced to the gaming world with tactical games like PR).
The more people we'll covert, the happier I'll be. But that means helping people out on the server. In period of releases, it is especially important for veterans to help out new players. Those who don't care for your help or do not listen will leave soon enough anyway.
It's not my habit to throw out the whole crop because there's a few rotten fruits in the bunch.

No one used tanks.
No one defended the main on Kashan.
Someone who knew what he was doing a little bit asked me to strafe the flag in the MIG-29, alas, I had 9 rounds of ammo because there was AA covering our airfield. I was having a good round for playing about 15 minutes. 7-0 until I deserted to help end the round. At least I killed that Falcon with my 9 bullets before I went out.

How can you not use the tanks on Kashan o_0

You wouldn't happen to have your graphics set to low would you?

Yeah, there's always a cycle of Vanilla gameplay in the beginning of a new release. Things will improve once the new players have either found their place in a reality mod like PR or back to where they came from. You'll also need to guide the new players and help them understand a little on what they need to do in PR. Always remind them to read the guide as well (since frankly not enough people seem to read it while it’s necessary for an affective gameplay).

Well i must say that i was shure looking like an "vanilla" when i tested 0,6
yeasterday. I couldn´t grip anything, this could also have something to do whit my brand new system, everything was so pretty so i couldn´t concentrade on the fubars. Anyway i should give a HUGE THUMBS UP
to XD-Chris (i think that was his name) a sqaudleeder who could take the time to explain all the new things, like 3 ppl to set up RP and so on...
I´m to lasy to read the manual *heheh*
And yes i had the shittiest round ever 0 -23 And i joined the PR at the 0,5
release, so im not the veteran but i do now what teamwork is about
And yes my speling sucks monkeyballs i know, im sorry about that

I do have to say, I have seen some improvement. A round on Desertstorm where the US managed to get around the Canyon by driving an APC through the hills, then attacking them from behind. And people seem to finally stop shooting civs! Woohoo!
