Can this be done?

Ok, first post here. Hello all.
I have a neat idea but I don't know if it possible to put in the game. I had this idea for a while but after seeing the little bird it cropped up in my mind again.
Heres the thing. If you can make a night map, I thought it would be cool if little bird could have a night sun (spot light) so it could support troops on the ground in infantry based maps.
Maybe the bird would need a co-pilot for it to work, but it would be cool for it to shine in on a hot spot in the middle of a battle or on an ellusive sniper atop a tower, just an idea.

Great idea..However, we all need the Special Forces Exp. Pack for that. As of right now, i dont think the coding is available for BF2.
When the SFep comes out i wonder if it will be possible for like flashlights and stuff? THAT would be top notch!

i thought that being an expansion pack everything that is available in the SF game is already possible in BF2 code?
also wouldnt it be more realistic for the pilots to use NVGs? since shining a spotlight would get them lit up pretty quickly.

i THINK the word is no, you wont. but im no coder and that answer only comes from a few things ive seen around the forums. a coder could probably clear it up further for you.

depends on if the exp pack has new engine features, i dont think it does. weather or not you need it depends on if it uses the same engine as BF2 does currently or not. if the engine is the same, you wont need the expack (bf1942 didnt use a different engine from bf1942)

I think I can confirm that the code for night-fighting is indeed available in Vanilla BF2 - they just made it seem like it is not. If you look closely enough at the lighting in the engine itself, I think you can see traces of the possibility of nightfighting on the current engine. All it does is it takes a map-editor. I have no experience with this of course; everything I say here is on speculation.
For the sake of this mod and the community that surrounds it, I honestly hope nightfighting is a capability of Vanilla BF2. I really don't want to scrounge out another 50 dollars for the expansion pack.
Back in the day, Desert Combat was all that was really needed...

in talking with people who have spent alot of time looking at the codes in the BF2 engine they have said that vertain parts of code are missing,
example laster disignator- the model is there and the places where the code should go are all there its just that parts of the code have been removed/left out
im guessing its the same with nightvision, the hope is the hidden code will be released in SF and can be copied over to BF2
and FYI BF2-SF will cost roughly $30
