can the Hud's/ control panels be actuve? i was under the impression they were part of the model and couldnt be made to show realtime data like that

well, the hud is active of course, since it shows altitude/airspeed and (in prmm 0.2) the ammount and type of ammo currently ready for use. but i don't think the control panels can be made to show this.

laser guided bombs maybe? wait they already have laser missiles, on the F15, and the MEC jet (sorry forgot it's name) - the dual seat ones.

first of all the airforce doesnt use laser guided missiles like the AGM-65E which is the laser variant of the maverick which the marines use. The airforce uses D,G (Infrared) and H,K (Improved Electro optical). Most planes like the F-15, F-16 usually just use JDAMs or Laser guided bombs. A-10's use mavericks alot.

It'd be great painting a target with a laser designator and an apache locks onto it with it's Hellfires and lets lose a torrent of explodery goodness! That'd be great for taking out armour with cooperation between the infantry on the deck and the pilot in the air. It's fun doing that in OFP... that and painting targets for GBU's! *BOOOOM*

Give laser designaters to spec ops that's their sot of thing. (handy against tanks).

Or snipers because after all isn't that their job.

Wohoo finished formatting. By the end of this week I should be up to speed with all my BF2 modding related programs (3DS, Photoshop, etc.)

Landing Gear: Making the landing gear manual is extremely easy. The only problem is that you would also have to lose something. As far as I know there is no way to create new key commands for BF2. Creating new key commands would be a modders dream (mine anyway). It would allow us to add things without losing anything such as working lookaroundable cockpits while still maintaining control.

Missile/Bomb Status: This is already in the mod...

Laser guided missiles/Head(t?) seeking missiles: I once made the F/A-18 equipped with two AGM-65 Mavericks instead of the two Mk.82 bombs. That was great fun. Horribly unbalanced, but fun. Heat seeking missiles? Those are in the game already in the form of the AA-11 Archer and AIM-9 Sidewinder. Unless you mean head seeking which makes no sense.

Laser guided bombs: I loved this experiment. I did this once just for fun and it was a blast. It made bombing easier and a whole lot cooler looking for sure.

Eh, laser designators for squad leaders.

I like the idea of giving the task to the Spec Ops boys, it would be nice if they had other roles to fulfill, aside from blowing up assets and covering the flag they are defending with charges. It may also solve some of the current problems with the bombs, lets face it you will only be as good as your painter. Hopefully that and the need to land to reload, would go some way to reducing the bomb spamming that often goes on in servers at the moment.

Yeah, but if the Spec Ops boys got their magical time-delay death laser beam, who'd play Assault but the noobtoobs?

Seriously, very seriously, "Request UAV" should be replaced with "Request Airstrike", which places an object, like the move/attack/defend grenades, where the crosshairs are pointed. This object doesn't have to be visible but does produce a lock indicator and map waypoint for all your GPS-guided bombs. Squad-leader functionality improves the attractiveness of squadding. Using it in place of the UAV button would give the commander an alternative to artillery; he could place bomb locks where he wanted munitions. Fighters would become pre-occupied with preventing enemy bombers from completing these runs and bomber pilots would have better things to do than prowl around the map hunting for free kills.

I JUST WON THE INTERNETS!

Noo have the UAV's still in and then speckofs can go and iluminate the target
(how many laser designation devices apear from no where)

also link the designater with the radio so you make the request and then fire you laser.
