2 Questions: commanders and g.u.i.d.

Question 1:
On several different maps and on different sides, applying for the commander results in "welcome to duty" then instantly resigns you. Nobody can be the commander. Is this a bug or a hack?
Question 2:
How do you look up a player's g.u.i.d. after they have left the server?

I can help you a little bit with question 1. The US, MEC, Chinese, and British forces can have a commander. The Insurgents and Militia can't have a commander.
If this applies to your question, then the instant resignation is most likely a bug. You can tell if it's a hack if someone instantly replaced you as commander.

We were the Brits and the MEC on different maps, for example, Ejod, and it would not allow commanders.

You probably failed to fill out the proper forms in triplicate.
But seriously, I have never seen insta-resign, INS get a warning but I didn't know it would kick you from CO slot.

Yeasterday, I had this resign problem on TV2 server.
It was running EJOD Desert and I was on MEC side. I saw multiple times "New commander in on duty", but when I looked to scoreboard, nobody was in the postion.
I've tryied to apply as well, but just what Wolfe said: "Wellcome to duty, commander (or whatever)" and in a split of second, I was just regular souldier.

Well there is a setting to disable commander, perhaps these servers run that setting? But I wouldn't think that would be possible on a public server so maybe that's not it.

Any ideas on how to look up g.u.i.d.'s on players by their nicname? I know how to do this for Bf1942 but not sure if it's possible for BF2
