In which gun? Yes, it can be coded. Physically, in an M-16 in RL, AFAIK, no you can not have a 2 round burst (unless you're using the automatic one) one pull of the trigger shoots three rounds, no matter how briefly you keep the pressure on the trigger.

AN-94 has 2 round burst ( with amazing accuracy - good shooter hit the same penny with both bullets at 100m range ) , but I guess this thread is not about Abakan ...

ingame i would have thought yes, in r/l with most weapons i dont think there is such a thing... 3 round burst seems to be the most common burst.

Several weapons have 2 round burst, I'll just leave it to BM to name them.

with the SA80, when you switch to auto, you tend to fire 2-3 bursts anyway, some times 3 or 2 it is fine as it is

G36 and XM8, to my recollection, can both have 2 round bursts. Apparently the first 2 rounds hit very close together and the 3rd tends to "go wild" and usually not hit the target.

IIRC, the S. Korean standard issue rifle for their infantry corps is a 2rb weapon.
I think 2rb is kind of cool.
@Bob: I've heard that the three tend to group and the FOURTH is the one that goes wild. What's your experience told you?

Well thats a bit different.
Thats a 2 round burst at a different ROF to full auto, and when in full auto the first 2 rounds being at 1800 rpm and the rest at 600rpm
I would doubt if thats possible, tbh.

Eggman, you're dangerously close to 12,000 posts.
As for 2rb weapons, are they even common enough to end up in the middle east?

wrong. the m16 burst functions like full auto but limited to 3 rounds. this is the way it is with most if not all m16 style rifles. this information is coming from an ar15 manual.

Well, Yes and no, actually.
The M-16 burst function is accomplished by a ratchet and disconnector. Each pull of the trigger will cycle the ratchet through three rounds. If, for example, you pull the trigger while the selector is on burst mode, and there is only one bullet in the magazine, then the ratchet will only cycle through 1 round and need to cycle through 2 more before reseting. This means that when a fresh magazine is inserted, 2 rounds will fire when the trigger is pulled again. But the next pull of the trigger will result in the ratchet cycling through 3 rounds again.
There are rifles in the M-16 family that have a whole bunch of selector options. Like 5 and 6 position selectors. Safe, 2rd, 3rd, 5rd burst, Full auto and safe. It is all accomplished by engaging different notches on the ratchet. Except for full auto function. Full auto does not need a ratchet to "count" the shots and so bypasses it in the firing chain.
A good tinkerer or a knowledgable gunsmith will have no trouble at all making a weapon that has a X round burst into a 2 round burst. It's just a matter of modifying the ratchet. Usually all you need is a tig welder and a ******* file.

While it seems like there are a number of options for mechanically limiting a rifle to 2 round bursts, in actual practice with a full auto or 3+ rd burst rifle all you really need is good trigger control. It's not really that difficult.

i wasnt very sure that all the m16 style rifles were like this but i know for sure an ar15 is because the manual describes this function and details that its not a malfunction of some kind. the ar15 rifles do function like a limited full auto but the manual only describes the ar15 and a little about the m16. so the m16 might function the way you said but the ar15 does not,so please be sure that you are reading your information correctly and be sure that it isnt describing that it works like the ar15. you are right about the magazine emptying and the cycle pausing, but be sure that it dosnt say the trigger pull can do this. with the ar15, you release the trigger before the cycle is over and it stops firing only to be finished on the next trigger pull and i would think the m16 functions the same way. please dont think that im making a mistake because i am reading it directly from a manual i have on a cd.
