i dont think weapon customization is possible, the closest thing i think will be changing the unlocks into variations of weapons.
Also PR, to my knowledge, has never commited to conventional forces.

PR has to this point commited to all forces and the plan is that maps will be unit specific and that there is the significant possibility of having maps designed for Spec ops types units
that being said go to army.mil and look at the image database theres hundreds of pics of regular grunt 11Bravos with customised M4's and M16's

Well, I know SPECIAL OPERATIONS operators use customized weapons, but it's not possible in PRMM. On Spec Ops maps, give the operators the choice of whether they want the rifleman class w/ ACOG 4x or the Aimpoint 68... I guess that'd kinda be like customizable weapons

yep, i think thats one of the directions being considered.

The ACOG 4x telescopic sight, M68 Close Combat Optic and forward handgrips are used by regular infantry, as well, so that does not have to be the case.

Too bad we cant have our own ranking system.
If we could, we could have a different unlock system all together. For each individual class, instead of simply an unlockable weapon which is a different weapon all together, just simply have the next unlockable weapon be an upgrade on the same weapon. As you gain rank you get the option to unlock an upgrade on any weapon for any class..Only problem is, some weapons in some classes do not have upgrades. In which case, maybe the classes with non-upgradable weapons can actually have PLAYER upgrades, such as more body armor and such?
Example. The Spec. Ops. M4. Instead of replacing it with the G36C, simply have two unlocks for spec ops. The class would start off with a simple M4 with the scope. So, the next unlock, would give it a supressor. The next, possibly some cammo paint on the gun and a laser sight? Something along those lines.

Wasn't the ABR just around here a few days ago saying that we could have our own ranking system?

m203 unlockable is a good idea, most assault rifles can take one, how about a reduction in run speed or something to balance the big firepower? how about a motar?! jusdt thought of that! last night i was wondering about the gap between an artillery strike and a handgrenade, i think a portable mortar tube would be sweet to back up the front line assault, you could get snipers to spot for the mortar thats behind a building or someplace...hmmm.

From what I have read, they planned on putting mortars and manned artillery in PR.

All weapons are good as long as they do their job.

Yes. I believe so. Good thing you remembered.
Maybe the PR team can get in touch with them, or vice versa, or maybe even I could get in touch with ABR and ask them how to go about doing it then mention it to the PR team?
Wouldnt that be sweet though?

True, but wouldnt you want more fun gadgets on them? Variety never hurt anyone..

AK-74M with PSO-1 and GP-30 here I come! Now THAT would be a great MEC SF unlock. No point of SD in BF2 mind, unless you make some drastic changes to the gameplay... unless you can get COOP againt AI working, SD would be useful then.

Lol, ok..
I think they're cool. Gives some more incentive..The ranking points system just needs to be more team oriented..
