The G36

I looked around in the previous suggestions section and did not c this, so I'll post it and hope I'm right.
Anyway, I think you should add the G36 into the game. If I'm wrong and it's already in the game (I have only played a few maps because most servers offer a limited selection) then i think we should modify the sights a little. Yes, the G36 does use ironsights, but it is more often seen with a day or night vision scope. I think it would be great if you could be cruising with a squad on a nighttime map lookin thru the night vision scope on your G36, what do you guys think?

Never seen NVGs on a G36. Actually, doesn't the military use NVG goggles instead of NVG scopes?
And since this is Project Reality, and since there's no German faction, the G36 wouldn't be realistic.

first off, the G36 isn't used exclusively by german forces. actually its favored by police mostly. and if thats your problem then how about adding in the germans? not fighting the americans but fighting the insurgents. and before you ridicule that, there ARE german forces in Iraq, and actualy they are using G36s, so there are actually several ways in which we could make this realistic

you "chould" create a map thats all varrients of the special forces. and add the g36c(iron sights) and get other varrients from opk.

that would be cool, opposing army's special forces facing off in a nighttime map.

Play some PoE2 for G36 varients. Creating a whole new German faction will probably not happen for PR, which has been suggested plenty of times.

There are multiple models of Night Vision scopes (both light amplifying and Infrared) existing and numerous accounts of their use.
Furthermore, the G36 was designed to be used with night vision systems attaching directly to the rifle's optics. Here's a quick example from an image I quickly found (thank you google).
That image also shows the bulkiness of the system, somewhat demonstrating what I wrote in the IR scope thread.

And thus why NVG goggles are so much better

I took a quick look and could not find any reference to German troops in Iraq.
Can you provide a link ?

as already said we would need a faction that would use the g36. Germany would be one, but making a new faction is never an easy job.

I guess it will be a bit hard to find a link because they are hardly involved in any fighting, but rather to protect the other helping unarmed people there, but IIRC there are some of our guys down there, there was a huge argument wheter or not to sent them, in the end the government (or rather some people in it) just did it.
A few months ago there was some kind of scandal involving german soldiers, they were basically playing hamlet with a skull which they found in an old mass-grave. Although this also might have been in Afghanistan or something, too long ago.
Oh, and on topic:
The G36 as it is used in the german army features one x3 scope for engagements up to 800 meters and a reflex/red-dot sight for short ranges up to 200 meters.
THere is an export-edition which features a single x1.5 scope and another which features just ironsights and IIRC a picantinny-rail (or however you write this

.
I think the weapon feels a bit to high-tech for a faction like MEC, imo the G36 is about the best assault rifle there is. The MEC are more about older, but still high-quality weapon-systems, like the G3.

Robbo, thats the KSK in Afghanistan.
The Germans have no troops in Iraq, to my knowlege, though they are deployed as part of ISAF in Afghanistan. But they're not allowed out at night.
Anyway, armies that use the G36 (Germany, Spain (G36E), in a modified form, Mexico, etc) are not likely to be added to PR in the near future unless its through a community effort. And none of the current factions really have a niche that they need filled by something like the G36.

Well..... if you want to make the Germans, go ahead. The PR team are doing Britain and the other US armed services, and the community are doing Poland, Canada, Russia and the SAS.
The two current factions on the coalition side that are used in PR do not use the G36 (or any variants) widely enough, if at all, for it to even be considered.

Too "dangerous", I guess.
But it's true, I heard that from somebody who has been deployed in A-Stan as well.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Yeah....
Its SAFER at night. We have NVG's, the insurgents don't. We have thermals, the insurgents don't. We have air support with FLIR, insurgents don't. Unless the germans don't have NVG capability, that makes 0 sense. Either someone was pulling your leg about going out at night, or there is a vastly different reason.
