Grenader...

Since leaving .5 at the start of the open beta, I'm glad to see that I'm no longer getting n00b t00b'd by the grenadier class!

However, I'm noticing I'm not seeing it around much at all! Infact today on Kashan I requested one when assaulting the bunkers, thinking the M203 might help a bit for bouncing shots around corners and places where a frag will not go, it said that I was the only one with it on the team!

I don't often use it, as I'm more useful in the rifleman / heavy AT roll, but I have noticed a few things in the RC1 and ,6 final, and it seems to me that the 203 grenades are a bit "off".

I'm not going to claim I know exactly how accurate they are IRL, and I'm pretty sure their left/right deviation in game is perfect, but their up/down deviation seems skewed. I was assaulting the south bunker and fired a round at the top doorway. I had lined up the roof with the second notch from the bottom, and fired, hitting just to the left of the door. I reloaded, lined it up again at the SAME notch, fired, and the round sailed right over the bunker itself! I did not change position, nor did I do anything else, but it seems the 203 (and maybe the other UGLs, haven't really used them) is in need of attention.

I've found the UGLs to be a little haywire aswell. Even standing still for a little doesn't seem to help.

I've noticed the lack of grenade launcher use as well, and I think people are really overlooking a pretty good kit. The problem is that most people just can't figure out how to use the darned things. But I think if you can become skilled with the launcher the kit would be a very good club to have in your bag. The launcher lets you put explosive and smoke rounds in places that you really just can't reach with any other weapon. It's a great kit for assaulting enemy positions.

As for accuracy, I really have no clue how any of it works. It's hard to get practice when you have to have 4 people in a squad just to request the weapon.

I do have a question regarding the grenade launcher, however: How good are the launched grenades against the destructible buildings? I used the launcher to help an assault on one of the towers in Mestia, and when the smoke cleared most the area was in ruin. I thought my grenade launcher was to credit, while my buddy who was in the same squad swears we had an AT in the group, which I never saw. So do the GL rounds take out buildings? I'd like a definitive answer before I start hurling grenades at an enemy building in hopes of destroying it, only to find that I did no damage.

I agree that the accuracy is really messed up. I couldn't hit a guy 30m away on Mestia, the grenades would either go way past him or hit the rock in front of him, with only minor changes in where I aimed.

You know why? Superior zoom > grenade launcher. Especially when as a rifleman you can throw them anyway.

Also note the fact that even with less zoom, you can make yourself useful in the form of a medic or combat engy.

PLA grenadier...uber kit. I play the rifleman like a marksmen and used to noob-tube grenadier nades since vanilla. I can pop whole squads from a long ways out with those nades...some people ***** about the sites but after a while you get really really used to it....feels almost like cheating sometimes for me. Oh yeah, PLA grenadier has scope too :) money baby...money.

Yeah I've been wondering if the G3 with UGL will have a scope, and if the M16A4 will have one as well for the grenader kit.

If the mec are going to get a scope for their g3/ugl kit I'm sure so will the Brits and the USMC for theirs.

GL is my favorite requestable kit, for when my squad actually has medics other than me. It's good for the things that it's good for in real life: suppression, indirect fire at enemies behind cover, smoke deployment, etc.

I do find the sights to be a little bit inaccurate, so putting rounds through windows isn't always an option. I also find that I have to sit still for several seconds for best results, and even then, the grenades can be a bit off. I wish we had fully working, accurate sights for the weapon, but you gotta make do with what you have.

If you're patient, they work perfectly fine.

I sometimes go commander and request the Officer kit, the resign and fight on with that.
Love the loadout :p

are the forums tripping? there have been like a million double posts recently.

any way, i love teh kit and its nearly always at 1/5 so you can get hold of it fairly consistently. the pla one is brilliant since it has a scope on it.

i have to admit though i think the accuracy of the vanilla gls is better then the pr ones... maybe its just the f2k but i always seem to nail people with it on maps like karkand yet cant hit **** with the brit gl for example on helmand.
