Forced join-a-squad backfire

just now i kept getting kicked for "being squadless."

to a certain extent i love how there is more squad play because of this forced-squad feature, i have had it take a dump on my face on face a couple times now.

today, each time i'd load in, i'd spawn and die within seconds before being able to join a squad. spawning resulted in the starting of the join-a-squad-before-being-kicked count down. the respawn was 30+ seconds so by the time i respawned, died and respawned again i was getting kicked before moving 1 foot in the game... what are the chances of that?! so i rejoined the server and guess what happened again?

is there a way in PR to make it so you can join a squad while dead? IIRC you used to be able to do that a year or so ago in vanilla BF2 but i guess it was removed in a patch because of abuse (i remember squad leaders leaving/re-joining the squad when they would die so there was always a live squad leader to spawn on).

IMO you should be able to join a squad on your first load before your first spawn to prevent this problem. i play PR for a couple rounds a day when i get home from work to unwind and this is just frustraiting.

-----------------------

i don't have an extremely slow computer per say ([email protected], x1950 pro, 1gig DDR@467mhz), but it still takes several minutes to load a map and verify data. i have friends where it takes significantly longer to load and if i were them i would be PO'd at this and probably not want to play the mod. heck, just now it made me go play another game and then make a post about it.

-You can join a squad once you enter the game, before you spawn the first time.

This should only happen on the TG server.
Adress their admins, not the mod developers.

i can only seem to do this before the round starts. when a round is in progress, i can click on 'join' but nothing happens.

i'll talk to the admins since i'm always on their Vent.

This is a server issue, not a mod issue. Talk to the server admins.

i didn't realize that it was a TG script that they were running when i made the original post.

yeap its my main complaint AGAINST this type of system.

also other complaints is the enormous amount of text spam this script creates, and also the fact that just because people are all in squads doesnt necesarily make them work together any better....

I like the forced-squad requirement. I dont know about you guys but I play TG exclusively and have NEVER had a problem with it. I'm not the leet-est guy out there so I know everone else can figure out how to use the system. I do think that the forced squad option helps out with teamwork to an extent...at least you know that the commander has access to every squad member through his SL. Lone wolves can still create a single person squad...but again still the CO has access to him. I like it.

Forced squad requirements are just a pain. It does not increase teamwork as the people who would have never joined a squad to begin with just join one and wander around away from that squad. All it does is get people kicked when servers have that squad bug or in situations such as fragkilla's.

I disagree...some guys are new and don't really know how cool it could be to be in a squad so they vanilla out. I've had several guys new to the game join in...try to do their own thing...I talk to them, educate them...they follow us around and pretty soon they are PR guys instead of noobs. The reality is that to be in a battlefield you would HAVE to be in a squad with some connection to a Commander generally. Its realistic to force people into squads....maybe not for insurgents\militia. If you can't figure out how to avoid the squad issues, I'm sorry but its just not that hard.

I like it. But only if the admins also kick for not following orders. Otherwise there's no point.

"Hey Herb, Don't run people over with the vodnik, its not realistic"

"OH, I'm sorry *******. Im here to have fun..."

Fuck a TG server...

I wonder how squad-bug looks like on TG server ...

If you don't like their game-play style, don't play there. TG is a great thing for this community.

Its down to SLs to keep kicking those that don't obey orders. If no squad will have them they'll get booted by the script, so they either pull their weight or are forced to leave.

Yeah the squad bug can be annoying. I think there are also issues when you rejoin a server.

But its fun. If you are thinking to kick an annoying squad member (or just want to be an annoying squad leader) kick at the right time and he'll get booted from the server.

And TG just needs to adjust their script I think. Because PR has a potentially long spawn time.
