Kit restrictions...

I've really been trying to enjoy this mod but it's really difficult =/
The kit restrictions always leave me playing one of the regular kits..when you need an AT he's nowhere to be found. It's impossible to ever get a sniper or marksman kit. If you're playing insurgents its completly impossible to get a kit...so what if I like playing sniper or a certain class? This mod got me really excited at the idea of playing a realistic sniper and supporting my squad, but I've played all night and I've gotten the sniper once. And lost it after a few (awesome) kills. I realize this is suppose to be one of those "surrender some freedom options for the good of the general gameplay" but I think its gone too far...

I really think you need less kit restrictions. I realize the idea of a team full of snipers sucks so make it like 4 allowed max, 5 for anti tank, so on.
The whole game I see people asking for kits and being denied...
I mean most of the maps allowed _1_ sniper! Thats so unfair!

Yah, I have the problem a lot. Chances of you getting an AT kit are non-existant, yet the chances of you getting tank-sniped are really quite high...
If you're playing insurgents its completly impossible to get a kit...so what if I like playing sniper or a certain class?
Insurgents get pick-up kits that are placed in key locations, generally near a mosque or flags, or on the weapons caches in "insurgency" game mode.
This mod got me really excited at the idea of playing a realistic sniper and supporting my squad, but I've played all night and I've gotten the sniper once.
That happens to me all the time. It's really hard to get "perfect" with the sniper, because you very rarely get to use it in "combat" conditions, and when you do you're more worried about losing it or getting kills than practising to get a "feel" of the gun's dynamics. Which reminds me, must checkout the SP whassit so I can practice sniping on bots...

Sorry for the noob question but I tried doing SP and there were no maps available? How do you play with bots?

I read somewhere, whilst drunk, that there's a set of script files you need to move over into the game's main folder. I think people were talking about "who can get general rank in SP first". I'll have a look for the link-me-do right now.

most of the times i play no one even bothers taking an AT weapon...

more snipers?? i think we need more squads working together than more snipers working alone.

I've never, not once, requested a HAT and got one when I've really needed it... LATs, I can usually get one at a pinch, but I generally get tank-sniped before I get to pop off a round.

I'm not, otherwise I would be "getting tank-sniped *after* I popped one off" - wouldn't I? Although the irony of using a light "anti-tank" weapon against "tanks" isn't lost on me.

Solution? Stay alive.

People always complain, but still they run about like headless chickens with the heavy AT, getting killed for being stupid.
That and the fact that barely anyone uses them.

4 snipers per team? No comment.

All maps allow 2 snipers, its player, not map dependent. Taken with 2 marksman kits, that's quite enough 'longer' range equipment to go round.

Oh god, if there would be 5 snipers per team Ghost Train would become a simple game on run as fast as you can across the bridge.

Also- just because you can't get a kit, doesn't mean that the limitations should be changed. If you're "stuck" as a regular unit, then help your team instead of just constantly requesting a sniper/marksman/HAT. I get along just fine as an Anti-Infantry man.

PS: there's a reason insurgents don't get specialized kits. They're insurgents.

what population servers do you guys play?
When you want a kit you get it? Yea right...
on the 48 and + servers all the kits are always taken, and there is nothing to pick up by insurgents, especially if you joined late.
I just played the oilfields map and there only 1 sniper alowed...and marksman weapons have zoom probably on par with the regular assault rifles...

And its not that easy to stay alive. I can't even see who shoots me half the time, and tank sniping you from a mile away is hard to avoid.

Depending on the map we will have a "marksman,marksman,sniper" combination.

The SL is always talking with the commander asking him where to laydown sniper support.

Man if you want the sniper kit so badly then go and try SP, and stop trying to change what PR is meant to be, I mean, you just register and within your first 2 posts you're dictating that PR should have 5 snipers? thats 10 snipers in a game, thats 1/6 of the server population! FFS!

Did you even read my post, the number of kits depends on the number of player, not on the map.

And a markman's rifle has better zoom, marginally, is zeroed at 600m not 300m and fires more power ammo, all in a superior weapon to a riflemans, and better by far than any non-scoped weapon.

I never said 5. I said 4, and just because 4 is max doesn't mean youll always have 8 snipers in the game...and no I'm not dictating, suggesting and putting in my input....and I didnt just address snipers.

But your very reason for requesting more is that sniper kits are always requested up to the limit, indicating that this is exactly what would happen.
