I've noticed through the years, that the british army has always named there vehicles and planes after british leaders of some kind of name that sounds british, such as Crusader (Crusader = a Holy Knight) and Churchill tank, named after winston churchill...but where does the chieftan and the challenger and warrior tanks come into this....they don't sound that british at all....i want to know what other vehicles are named after leaders or something.

Every country will have military equipment named after the people who made them or past heroes etc. Not every single one will though.

I think most Russian military jets had names beginning with 'F'. E.g. Fulcrum, Flanker, Foxhound.
That's the names assigned to them by NATO - presumably their official Soviet designations were unknown.

US names their Aircraft after animals: Fighting Falcon, Hornet, Tomcat, Raptor... Then, they also name stuff with complicated acronyms.

The Nato called them so but normal their name starts with the inventor or an incorporator of the company and then a number like MIG 29(
Mikojan-Gurewitsch) , AK47 (Awtomat Kalaschnikowa) the inventor was Michail Timofejewitsch
Kalaschnikow or Su 27 (Pawel Ossipowitsch
Suchoi)

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT, 'cause if it leaks to the VC he could end up an MIA, and then we'd all be put on KP.

i dont think the US name they support vehicles after generals, other wise i feel sorry for the guy named 5 ton truck.
but back on topic, the British also used thel Land Rover Wolf, spartan, centurion, scimitar Cromwell and firefly also we renamed one of your vehicles to the grant, so its a odd name process but theres probably a logical system behind it

The Pershing missile is named after a general! Not really classed as a vehicle though, unless you're after a one-way trip ...

To add to thism the reason they all start with F is because NATO designated them all as fighters.
Plus, why would the russians give their own planes english names?
