Discussed to death I know...

I'll be blunt, the one thing that really kills this mod for me is the spawn time. Everything else is amazingly well done but it just baffles me as to why you'd stick with this spawn system. Does it really make it more realistic? Does it really make the players more cautious? In my mind it doesn't as,
A :P lenty of other realistic games like Armed Assault, Red Orchestra don't have long spawn times at all but that doesn't take away from the realism and the immersion of the game at all. You get shot, you wait 12-15 seconds and then your back in the fight actually playing the game (mind you in CS you die your out the entire round which could be up to 4 minutes you at least can watch the rest of the team play instead of having to stare at the sky) What incentive is there to stay alive? The same as any other, to win the battle. Having the incentive as "you don't have to wait 30-90 seconds to spawn" just takes away from the fun of the game and lowers your player base.

Point B: The game is already set up in such way that the 'n00bz0rs' you seem to be trying to scare away with this system will get bored and tired with or without the spawn time. They already can't bunny hop in front of a machine gun, they can't rush an enemy position all on their own nade spamming, they can't spray and pray with 'unbalanced' weapons. If they do any of the above they will die, and they will die a lot.

Here's what I propose: 15 second man down time, 5 second base spawn time +/- 1 second for every death/kill. The medics gotta move quicker (A lot like reality) and you still gotta keep your head down and your eyes open. Essentially minus 10 seconds from the spawn time :)

More - boring .
Less - vanilla BF2 with enemy spawning faster then you reload your gun .

I think it's fine as it is now. You only get the really long spawns if you act like a smacktard. The regular death time is fine however.

Just be careful and dont die, then you wont have to wait that long :)

Lol when i told a friend of mine(his first time playing PR) that the spawntime is 30 sec + 1 sec for each time you die, he immidietly said : "Damn! Im not dying in this mod!". So longer spawntimes will make ppl be more careful :P

PS. My mate died like 20 sec after saying that coz he tryed to rush a heavily fortified bunker...

PS. My mate died like 20 sec after saying that coz he tryed to rush a heavily fortified bunker...
He would have died the same way with or without the spawntime and I doubt he would have tried that again after getting plowed down so easily. From what I've read you guys are all broken records on this, the simple answer being: Don't be a smacktard (easy), don't die much (sure I'll camp some more), hell that's it. Anything contrary to the current time is completely unacceptable for you guys, I'd just like some objective feedback here.

But if you die in ArmA you may spawn back in pretty quick, but then you have to spend 10 minutes getting to where you died ;) Also, ArmA may be a realism mod but there are aspects of it that arn't realistic.

You gotta spend just as much time in this if your team is crappy and can't place spawn points on the map.

You spend MUCH more time getting to the action in ArmA than here, even if you're on foot without rally points. Have you ever played Evolution when you've cleared the KoS, and are on the DRS?

I think spawn times need to be increased to a base of 1.5 mins with a 30 second man down timer.

In ArmA, I'm much more careful not to get hit, because it took me three minutes waiting at base for someone to pick me up in a little bird, three more minutes to fly in-theater (possibly being taken down by a shilka if the guy's a retard), 5 minutes of moving cautiously through forest to the edge of town, and then another couple minutes of recon with binoculars, looking for targets and routes of approach/escape. THEN you can get in the action.

In PR it's MUCH more action-packed. How you could think otherwise is beyond me. I play PR for action-packed combat and ArmA for realism. And Insurgency if I'm drunk or don't know any better.

Please don't take the I quit attitude. Give it a chance to grow on you. To be fair to yourself and the MOD you must give it a fair chance. Based on the number of posts (4) you have made thus far I will assume that you are new to PR. Don't walk away cause there are a couple things you aren't used to. Give it a chance and learn something new. You won't be sorry.

You are no different than anyone else that ever left BF2 to come to this mod. I've had a few friends that HATED this mod when they first tried it, but after a couple weeks they fell in love with, and vowed never to return to vBF2. And they haven't return, not even for a few minutes. Why would they want to? Give it a couple weeks to grow on ya, then if you still don't like it you can quit and take your ball and go home :)

Alright fair enough, you gave me an honest reply and I appreciate that. In fact you make an excellent point, I'm being quite the newfag and I'm sorry. Honestly I'm just bitching about the only thing I don't like on a mod swimming with stuff I love so I just gotta give it some patience and learn.

Press 'C' to view other players while your on the dead screen.

But once you have played the mod a bit more, youll realize the dead screen gives you PLENTY of time to:

1) look at the map and see what all the other squads are doing, who is dying, who needs help, if the command is a dumbass, etc etc

2) give you time to regroup your squad, get you squad kitted out properly, form a new angle of attack, switch to a new objective, switch to a new role (INF, APC, ARMOR, ATKHELI, JET, TRANS, SUPORT, etc)

3) give you time to go to the washroom

4) give you time to get some food / drink

5) give you a quick puff on cigarette.

so in conclusion: dont die so much or youll get fat :P

my take-
it takes like 5 minutes to get back into the fight anyway, with walking around n stuff, and spawn pts on the other side of the map. so if you're capping a flag, you shouldn't have to worry about the enemy spawning and raping you while you are capping. but if they do rape you, for the 20th time, it makes for a long night, waiting 2 or even 3 minutes to just spawn again, then another 5 to walk back to the firefight. might as well just stick a macro on it.

or another idea...
How about, each team has a certain number of "rienforcements", so spawn times are really fast, but at a certain point, near the end of the game, reinforcements run out, and when you die, thats it. sounds more realistic IMO and it would be a lot more fun- no more waiting to spawn.
