Are maps required? Perhaps I can make some???

I haven't made any maps since quake 1 but I would like to help out with something here at PR and I thought I might try my hand at mapping.

The thing is I have no idea how to do it. I'm computer literate and I'm a fast learner so I'm sure I'll be able to get my head around it.

Could anyone please give me some suggestions as to how I can get started - ie. links to mapping guides, what software I need, handy tips, etc.?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

M

you can get the bf2 editor as well as the tutorials for making them. i tried it and the basic idea wasnt very hard, but it was very very time consuming.

map making isn't hard, debugging is the worst.

So the tutorials are available with the editor or do they come seperately?

seperately, but if you look on the bf2 official site then you should be able to find the tutorials easily.

I am working on a map atm I have put a couple of days in it already. It is being made specifically for PRMM. There will only be transport vehicles in it and littlebirds. It is a very nice map so far and I cant wait to play everyone on it. I will get some screenies going after i get a little more detail done.

Well i have been playing prmm since release and read the forums quite frequently but I am not one to usually put time on something like this. I just cant stay outta the mix since the newest release i cant stop playing. I have to put in my part now.
