Maps are too ping-pongy

EDIT Title-*To ping-pongy*

Maybe I'm alone on this but it seems like a great deal of the PR maps are very ping-pongy. As in, you have to jump to this west flag...then back to that east flag...then back again if one squad fails etc. I like the idea of having to defend and attack but its just to much IMO.

At times you have to defend 2 areas and attack one. Hell theres only 32 guys on a side...a few in armor, and few dicking at the base...a few in choppers. That leaves only a couple of squads that actually get the work done. I'm not jumping to extremes and saying its all bad....but I definitely find the less ping-pong maps WAY more enjoyable as they tend to have a more "battle" feel to them instead of 5 guys taking a whole location like they are spec ops or something.

Al jabal is a great map as long as the US has the dam...then its these amazing fights back and forth...where squads can actually work together. Even when bridge is taken City and Factory aren't miles apart so your teams are more cohesive.

I hope that we can gear maps to play more linearly instead of so spread out...the idea is great but it leaves the battles feeling less realistic and more spammy. I'm sure they would work better with 128 players but with only 64 everyone gets spread to thin and it doesn't feel real as much...and less tactics.

I'm sure I haven't explained myself enough so take this with a grain of salt, but understand the general thought.

I think it really counts on what Players you have on your team.

A Good Sqaud can win a map.

I disagree, i think one of the things that makes most PR maps great is the fact that you have to split your forces up and leave some to defend. I feel the linear style maps (such as Operation desert storm) are wayyyy more 'spammy.' These almost degenerate into vBF2 at times because its just the whole teams throwing each other at one flag.

On the maps where you have to split up and coordinate defense and offense (Kashan or Jabal are good examples of this), without a good strategy or commander you will lose. If you don't leave a defense at a flag you need to defend, they will get taken. Thats what makes them great maps for PR, because the tactics and teamwork make much more a impact then just who can fight better.

As has already been stated, this is a player issue not a map design issue. You'll get bored out of your mind if maps turn completely linear. I probably won't stick around if it does.

If you don't have a squad or 2 who are disciplined and patient enough to defend the captured objectives, you will play ping-pong all evening. Defense may not be as "sexy" as assaulting, but it is a necessary part of Advance and Secure. A salute to my DVB ground-pounders who can "dig in" with the best of'em.

PR is not BF2... Would you like the flags laid out in a straight forward line for you? Like in real life

Defending a flag while another squad attacks is exactly what I enjoy as I explained on Al Jabar(sometimes degenerates into East/West ping pong but rarely if played properly). Linear attacking\defending is what some of you are mentioning for the most part...you have one to attack, and one to defend...thus a straight line in between them with no branching objectives for the team. What I have a problem with is when you, at times, have 2 map points to defend and one to attack. The ping pong effect ensues and teamwork is generally lost to a lot of blitzing etc. And using Desert Storm to make a point is just pointless in itself...the map is broken of course.
