No. It takes training to drive a tank.

Although it was fun to have them it's unrealistic

I believe those were USI tanks that PR borrowed so its always gonna be there for someone to use it(community mod or something?) I don't know i just thought i say that.

And i don't think its to advanced to have insurgents with tanks because the rag tag northern alliance and taliban in Afghanistan had T62 and T72 so its isn't that great of a stretch. Although i can't see how they would get it into Basrah...

PS: EVERYONE KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE USI MOD!! THEIR NEXT VERSION WILL BE OUT SOON AND THAT MOD TEAM HAS HELPED US OUT A LOT SO LETS SHOW THEM SOME LOVE!!

I thought the "realistic" reason for the insurgents having tanks was explained on the load screen, the remains of an armored division was in the city and they pledge their support to the insurgency. Too bad they are gone, they were fun to try to get them into position without being smoked by Cobras & Warthogs... only to get smoked by an M1A2.

Its the past. During the first Gulf war. Its a mix between PR and vBF2 if you ask me but i think as long as this update has been taking we will be seeing some really good stuff from them this time around. Not many people play it now tho. They did but they left....

Heres a good mod site>>>>> http://www.doomlab.com/bf2topmods/index.php

Scroll down to USI and check out their stuff. They have a new site right now so its WIP.

I wouldn't mind seeing them integrated into the militia faction.

Same here.

And some offtopic:
And at least the previous version of USI, was BF2 with lots of vehicles (which were better than in vanilla). It was damn good, and I'm definetly going to download the next version.

The Northern Alliance are allies with the coalition forces.... Which is why they've learnt to operate a tank. From what I've read, they've learnt to use the old technology quite well.

No, they had tanks from their fight against the Taliban before September 11th. Burning oil, in disrepair… but they had them.

Thank god they're gone.
Ruined the realism.

Whether they could use them or not doesn't matter, weapons and explosives can be hidden in various places whilst you get them across the border and then once across you can hide them virtually anywhere. But where would you hide a 40 tonne tank?

Same place as the Apache helicopter.
