Infrared sights on tanks, APCs and helicopters

so, as you can imagine, how about make it so that the sights on tanks, APCs, and attack helicopters. that way, we can see people and vehicles at long range and not be obscured by smoke or fog or sand. you know, just like it is in real life

That's not IR though, they just made black white and white black.
The idea is cool although not original and probably not possible. Even if it was it would be extremely hard to fairly integrate without created all sorts of balance issues.

This has been suggested before, and as LJ said it is not IR, so we cannot make them see through smoke.
