MEC army's future

What is going to happen to the MEC team in the future. It is not a real faction and kinda takes away from the realism factor. Could the name just be changed to something real like, um Iran? Hahahah.

I used the search and could not come up with anything.

Well, they kinda made sure that the MEC faction name will stick for a while, what with their inclusion in BF2142...

The bonus with having something called MEC is that it's the Middle Eastern Coalition - it doesn't specifically piss on anyone's boots, so nobody can really take offence at it.

Calling a faction after a country could cause all kinds of political bullshit that would threaten the mod.

Let's face it - when a game recently was found to have scenes of fighting and aliens and stuff (cant remember the name of the game) in a cathedral (that looked so damn similar to one in England), the church got so annoyed at it that the publisher ended up having to pull the game from the shelves.

The last thing that the PR mod needs is that kind of adverse attention.

the MEC will continue to be in PR for a long while yet

Why the hell do people have such a problem with the MEC? It's a solid faction and it's not as if the Islamic nations in the Middle East couldn't band together.

Am I the only one who's tired of some idiot(not to say you're an idiot) bitching about the MEC not existing in real life so therefor not should be scrapped along with all the things modeled, skinned, and programmed for it but the majority of the maps that take place in the middle eastern setting.

Don't forget the dirtbike-RPG teams. They are so fast, tanks cant turn the turret fast enough to get a shot at them.

Yeah think of all the countries that allied against Israel over the years; Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Syria and like... others I forget the names of or don't wanna mention cos I'm not entirely sure are right (not too sure about Syria come to think of it)

...Damnit why's everyone have to be so quick posting nowerdays?! hahah no my post looks wrell stupid, anyway doesn't Iran technically have a bigger army then the U.S. Taking Militias into account?

Iran has also got martyrs, so while US troops would like to stay alive and return home, these guys only got death on their mind.
And if US invaded the entire Middle East, Im sure, you'd get an alliance with 10 000s of motivated troops...

First gen F-14's with no parts or knowledge on how they work. The Grumman crew made sure the destroyed as much technical information and vital parts as possible before they left.

What are you talking about? The MEC isn't in BF2142 in any way at all. Maybe you are thinking of the PAC, The Pan Asian Coalition? The Russian speaking Slavs and Orientals.

MEC should most certainly stay. I would like to see a new name for them though, like the Persian Empire or something, as a coalition sounds more like a bunch of nations allied with each other, and not really a single nation with one national army.

Some people will bring up the realism factor. Just because the game's combat is realistic doesn't mean the scenario has to. Take Operation Flashpoint or ARMA. Neither scenario is realisic. Hell from what I understand the island that the conflict takes place on in ARMA is actually fictional. Yet both games are credited to be the most realistic games around. Last thing I want to see is a U.S beatdown on some third world country we consider a threat.

Got it from there, looked at the sources and it's mostly based on Mr Ahmadinejads' predictions so it's pretty speculative. Interesting figure to cite though.

I say let the MEC stay too. An epic battle between the US and one single Middle Eastern country isn't very believable.

So you think its "realistic" to just change the MEC's name to Iranian Military?

Since I don't feel like having to repeat the same old writing every time I see a uneducated post like this, I'll simply paste some old comments I made the last few times people thought they knew it all to fit two completely different races as one.
Only a few problems; MEC’s are suppose to be a fictional Arab coalition force, while Iranians are Persians. You can't have two of them together as Both Arabs and Persians hate each other. Arabs are Sunni Muslims, while Persians although having a mix of different religions, their government is Shiite Muslim based. One last problem in fitting the Iranians into the MEC group would be the language. Persians speak Farsi and NOT Arabic (like the MEC forces).
Just because MEC is suppose to represent a fictional Middle Eastern force we’re to presume that all Arabs, Persians, Sunni and Shia Muslims have somehow set aside centuries of war and hate to unite against the West? Let me explain something to you since you don’t seem to have the proper knowledge about the Middle East to recognize why the whole Godforsaken area is so unbalanced right now. First of all, Persians hate the Arabs to the fullest degree. They’ve been at war with one another for thousands of years and still are. During the Iran-Iraq war from 1980-1988, Iraq(Arab state) received financial support from almost all major Arab countries in the Middle East; oil rich countries like Saudi Arabia ($30.9 billion), Kuwait ($8.2 billion) and the United Arab Emirates ($8 billion) helped Saddam with costs to keep his war going against Iran. It cost Iran more than 1 million casualties, and roughly $350 billion. This is only one of the most recent Arab-Persian conflicts, but the differences don’t end there. Iran wasn’t always a Muslim country and today its one of the only major Shia Muslim nations, while the majority of Arab countries around Iran are Sunni Muslim states. Sunni Muslims and Shiite Muslims don’t accept one another’s fates and there have been many wars between the two followers for centuries. One good example would be the present state of Iraq and the civil war between the Shia followers and the Sunnis we’re seeing. The only true Arab Allied of Iran would be the Lebanese Hezbollah organization and that’s because they’re also Shia Islam followers. Not to forget Hezbollah was originally formed and financially supported by Iran. But Hezbollah only holds 14 of the 128 seats in Lebanon's Parliament, and does not have enough power to provide sufficient support as an Allied to Iran. So realistically speaking, Iran would and never could fit into the whole MEC force in a mod like Project Reality, because the differences are too many to set aside.
Now I'm not giving you any titles here for suggesting this, in fact it’s possible that one day in the near future the Iranian people will set aside their language barre, religion, skin color, culture, and change nearly all of their military equipment to match those of an Arab state such as Syria or Iraq so they could fit your view of Iran.
