More range on the M203's

We have an ex-military specops/recon/sniper/SL in our clan that was talking about a few of his guys being able to hit a door with the M203 at the end of his tour. Thats a long ways and an accurate shot. The grenadier class is range limited, for now, and it'd be nice to have some more range on the nade launchers if it is indeed real.

Would indeed be nice to have more range and accuracy though.

But they blow up on the 10th second in the air.

What was the range? And yes, I think we should get more range.

More range and accuracy would be awesome, especially since they're limited now, and no one really seems to use them...which is good, in a way, since it means that I can almost always get one.

**** my bad...I didn't post the range he said. "At the end of our tour my guys could hit a door at 300yds with the M203's". He was talking about other things from his experiences and I noticed this. He was saying to use them liberally, as well as nades...being that they are cheap and we aren't...plus the soldiers will get really good with them as stated above.

And get rid of the smoke trail! It makes no sense!

I got pretty good with the M203, although I found it really hard since the yellow range device is pretty much useless (it's not tall enough). I typically send one "ranging" grenade at a guess, using the yellow sight and from that send a more accurate one down wind.

Will the yellow sight ever be replaced (hard coded?) or iron sights used?

Lemme guess.. I should use search... ;)

203 uses a cone of fire at the moment. It is fail.

Think, ironsights for M203 are hardcoded... :/

They are hardcoded insofar as that you can't alter them depending on the distance you want to hit. Usually, with an M16, you look through the ring of the ironsights onto the special Metal thingy (Yeah,I suck with weapon-vocabulary :p ) on the front of the weapon. Depending on how far you want to shoot, you hold the weapon so that you can see the bar for the preferred distance thorugh the ring.

So the only way in PR would be to make the front aimpoint static and aim higher/lower with your whole body instead of only with the weapon.

Oh, and by the way, 300 yds are about 270 metres,or what?

The smoke trails on the grenade launchers are there so you can follow your shot and compensate for the next shot. The cone of fire needs to be removed from the grenade launcher because of overshooting, falling short, or just plain missing the target because the grenade veered off to the left or right.

The firing arc of the grenade can be lengthened, and the cone eliminated, but I think we're stuck with the sights.

Thats fine...I'm pretty good with the current sites as I was a Genadier Whore in vanilla and .5. The lacking distance/accuracy is what kills me in .6...like I'm straining to get that nade over the ridge but just can't....maybe thats real but if its not I'd like to see some more range and accuracy.

When I first started playing PR, I would play as a grenadier. I then found that I could not hit one blasted thing with the grenade launcher! Shots would always deviate to the left or the right, no matter if I was prone or crouching or standing. On a few occasions, I remember firing out of doorways and having the grenade deviate up into the doorframe, killing me. :x

I then gave it up and found my love in the Rifleman class.

It takes perseverance, but the feeling you get when you land a big, fat grenade in River Fort from the Temple, and take out four people in one go...priceless.

M203's right now are realistic range - 100%. 45 degrees is ~400-450 metres ingame. Unfortunately, this brings your view off the target, but you can see our trepidation in allowing people to launch them up to 800metres or something like that.

450 meters? Wow, I guess they are shooting further than I thought.

Yeah, ingame 450 doesn't seem every long

If you have a friend with binos near a flag, you can fire the GL indirectly ,sort of like a mortar. It's really fun to waste a squad capping a flag from a distance where they cant even see you. But you will need a guy whos just gonna sit there and not fire so he wont get detected to spot out targets for you and help you aim your shots.

If you ask me this needs to be fixed. Right now it seems like the grenade deviation begins before it even leaves the barrel (i.e. the grenade does not actually come out of the barrel.) This is completely unrealistic. There is no way you could be pointing your grenade launcher out of cover and have the grenade bounce back off the cover you are aiming around. It sounds so stupid, I can't believe I'm mentioning it.

Anyway, as Waaah said, right now you can use them as "short" range mortars. Especially on Ejod, you can shoot from Gas Station to the edges of the city or desert wall.
