Question about the US ARMY skins.

Will the US ARMY faction have just ACUs (army combat uniforms) or will we see an inclusion of BDUs (battle dress uniforms) and DCUs (desert combat uniforms)? From what I have heard, most soldiers don't mind the ACUs for the desert theatre, but in the woodland, they say that the ACU sticks out like a sore thumb, and most would prefer to just keep the BDU. I have also heard that many special forces in Iraq stick to the DCU. I think it would be cool if the ARMY special forces class on desert maps wore the DCU and all of the ARMY in woodland maps wore the BDU. Of course this would take time, and is unnecessary what with Spushes ACU and all, but it's just an idea. What do you all think?

Notice how it does not blend well with the wooded area.

Yeah, I agree. I really don't know why the army would use ACU's in a woodland environment. My ROTC battalion did some labs in the woods and you could see every cadet with ease. I have heard that the ACU's digital pattern makes it so it is harder to see a soldier from a satellite, but I could be completely wrong on that.

ACU is the newly adopted camo scheme of the US Army, so it will be ACU in PR.

The ACU is universal, there is no desert or woodland.
The Army's Natick Laboratory in Natick, Mass., took the original digital pattern to the next level by developing a pattern for world-wide theaters to encompass both the BDU and DCU requirements. Black is no longer useful on the uniform because it is not a color found in woodland areas. The current colors on the ACU are green and sandy brown. The pattern is not a 100-percent solution in every environment, Myhre said, but a good solution across the board.

The army also uses Multicam don't they? That is much better than ACU IMO. Added a picture of the only place ACU works. :p

OK then, but the woodland variant should at least have a BDU vest with the ACU. I have also heard that the ACU takes on the color of the soil quite well, and we can't really simulate that in PR.

Ive heard this too. That the ACU will almost change color after being in a certain environment after so long. Like if you are in the dirt a lot the ACU will become "dirty" or if you are in the sand the color will "lighten". Although some say that this is because of the fact that the ACU is cheap and cant stay clean but even so it is seen as a advantage.

While I am no fan of the UCP pattern; taking a picture of it from 10' away on a dark background will not do it justice. Nobody should expect a standard printed camouflage to be effective under those circumstances. 99% of the time, standard camouflage does not eliminate the need for concealment.

PS: Multicam FTW!
