Yeah I remember reading somewhere that the Barret is so well designed that it kicks a little more than a high grain 3.06 round....loud as hell though.

The Recoil damping system on the barrett M82 series is very impressive, so much so, in fact, they developed a special bullpup variant intended to be fired unsupported from the shoulder, the M82A2.

As said before, prone with bipod would make the felt recol would be rather low.

something like they have a free floating barrel and that reduces recoil by like 60% or something amazing like that.

It was reportedly developed for that purpose, yes. However, it wasn't in production very long and Barrett don't seem to like talking about it much. As such, details are somewhat sketchy.

I heard the built it in the hope that the CIA would buy a few thousand as a low cost anti-helicopter weapon for the Mujehadeen to use in Afghanistan against the Russians, but they didn't want it for whatever reason and production stopped in 1987.

On Future Weapons apparantly the Barret has some of the smallest recoil than bolt action 7.62 rifles. (Apart from the allmighty PSG-1)
