Civilian Suggestions - building and sabotage

The civilians have a lot of tools on them that seem to have no purpose, mostly the "wrench" and the "shovel". (
Personally I wonder why I am using a bag of pebbled when I am dragging a long a massive spade.)
Shovel: Civilians should build stuff without a commander. Road blockages like, burning tires, old sofas, pieces of wood, wrecked vehicles, destroyed tv. It would be very funny and give Civilians another interesting thing to do.
Wrench: I think it should be used for sabotage. Just like the engineers can repair vehicles, the Civilian wrench can wreck them. It should be slow, but would make the British hesitant to just park their vehicles unguarded. They run up and start using the wrench slowly giving it damage over time.
I have to give some credit to Darkpowder, Thunder and Rhino for listening and brainstorming this with me. (The sofa was Rhino's idea.) But I am not sure if they remember our little chat so I'll toss it up here.

Yaaa. good point. I never thought of that.
rock = 1-2kg, round....

shovel = 5-7kg with a blade like end.

hmmmm.
the idea of putting down rubbish 4 road blocks sounds like a really good idea. in the long run i think the civilians will be ignored when the novelty runs out. whic will just make that effort all u Devs put into them.

You can "repair" damaged buildings and walls, as long as they're not "destroyed" then you can't repair them. So the civilians can repair the buildings.

I've always wondered if Insurgents where going to get the whole road block thing -- would make AAS/Ins mode even more in depth.

Very interesting ideas. I like the idea that the civys can construct an obstruction. Even if it isn't enough to stop vehicles it could be a good way to hide mines and IED's. I don't know if it would be possible for the wrench to fix houses and slowly destroy vehicles all with the same tool. Might need to wrenches or a hammer for fixing buildings?

Its all top notch.
Reminds me of the BF:VN booby traps the VC could set traps on vehicles.
Some thought has to go into where civis can put blocks. it'd being annoying and unrealistic to have a mob of civis running over NVCP, putting down 32 world of leather's latest edition, all over the military installment lol.
...mongol...

Take that thought even further, you set up a small lounge with the civy kit, get the Brits to have a seat and relax. Before they know whats going on half the Brit team is lounging around on the couches and they loose the map. Muhahaha a most brilliant and evil plan.

I'd give the wrench to Ambusher as a placeholder for a small spade to disarm his IED's

Personally I love the idea of road blockades. I'm all for it!

Untill you get blocked in by your commander or the enemy. I know a commander that did that block in the chineese main on that train map. We couldn't get vehicles out. It was a great time.
