A recent posting about FH2 and a mention that all the vBF2 kiddies would migrate to it and leave us PRM elitists alone brought this on.

I keep reading mention of all the “morons” from vBF2 that disrupt PR games as well as then being called “CS Kiddies” whether or not they have ever played CS.

In other words, you are basically showing your ignorance of these games and the player population. I have played both, as well as other games (DoD , RO etc.) and have run into groups of players I try to team up with on a regular basis as well as the typical moron who for all I know came from PRM to act like an ***.

When you play online, you’re going to run into these types of players no matter what game you play and believe me, they don’t all come from CS or vBF2.

So maybe try a wee bit harder to drop the elitist attitude, deflate your ego a wee bit and call an idiot what it is, simply a moronic idiot. No need to associate it with any other game.

I get your point. I used to play CS some time ago (like 4 years and such) and know what's to be called CS kiddie. My suggestion to you is don't bother. A lot of game communities out there hate CS kiddies and this is far from stopping them to keep doing it. Sure it's a very generalized term, but people won't stop using it as a large portion of the CS gamers take their experience into other games, transforming them into a rambo-shoot-party.

I'm sure you know all this, though. So don't worry, man.

Yeah, Expressions like vBf2-smacktard or CS-Kiddie are mainly concerning just this clichee. Usually they do not mean all of the community, but rather those who act like the clichee.
So,assuming that you are not acting like a CS-kiddie or vBF2 scmacktard, but still are a part of one or both of those communities, you can sit back and ignore such statements.

A 'CS-kiddie' brings the worst aspects of CS into other games and blindly continues with that play book till they get frustrated. They then leave or change.

I think the CS Kiddie tag is more of a general term then a CS put down. I played CS for a bit and some servers were populated with more mature and serious players. Othe servers were nothing but frustration due to imature players. To me it describes a play style and attitude not a game or it's community. But I do see what your saying about using a broad brush to paint with (note for the daft CS-Kiddie reading this I'm not actually refering to house renivations )

I play CS and CS:S from time to time myself.

Any derogatory player term associated with CS is well deserved and you can thank the griefers and cheaters for that. It has nothing to do with CS or BF2 but these games are among the most popular shoot'em fast bang bang type games that griefers and cheaters tend to gravitate towards. As a result, these types of players are identified with the name of game that made them infamous.

PR is currently a very fast, easy kill, easy spawn, cool weapons game. That is a dangerously attractive combination for the griefer/cheater archetype.

CS is referenced so much because it was one of the first multiplayer games that had wide-appeal at a time when online gaming was becoming more accessible to everyone. The average CS'er started becoming the spoiled jerk down the road that just got his first PC for his birthday. TFC experienced this too, except they called them llamas instead of noobs.

And being PC is lame, CS kids FTMFL. Most people who play PR have played quite a few FPS games and experienced the worst each has to offer, and CS is by far the worst for smacktard play.

Frankly you make the average PR joe just trying to have a good game look like elitist shmucks. Get over yourselves already and accept that PR is a game, nothing more. Your high and mighty attitude does yourselves and the mod in general no favours.

The reason CS,vBF2 etc. players are called smacktards,kiddies etc. is because most(but all) of the time they are. These games were designed to be easy to play so that a large amount of gamers could play them without having to look through a guide.
I mean games that do require you to look at a guide tend not to have the same level of smacktards and such.
Unfortunatly,a lot of people don't read the guide.So every game has it's share of smacktards etc.
Some games have more then others.

Okay, here's some handy facts for you.

-Being 11 or 12 isn't a crime, it's an age. You get mature 12 year olds and you get less mature 12 year olds. However irritating or annoying both of those kids might be to you, that's *your* problem to deal with - because they're behaving in a way that is completely natural and appropriate for someone of that age.

-Everyone has the right to pick up and play any game they want. A 13 year old kid, even if he *is* irritating as hell, still has the right to install and play PR, and play it any way that *he* wants to - even if that means lone-wolfing with the special forces kit.

-When someone plays the game the way *they* want to, and people start abusing them for it - it's the guys calling them n00bz, smarktards, morons and fools who are in the wrong. If someone is playing the game in the way that it wasn't intended to be played, it's irritating but doesn't justify offensive language or behaviour from everyone else - just in the same way that you're not justified in punching someone on a bus because they're humming.

-Games like CS, vBF2 are made easy to play because some people *like* having a mindless game to play. I do too, at times. At other times, I like to play a more patient, slow-paced game; my natural inclination in gaming terms is RTS rather than FPS. Just because these games are popular it doesn't make them shit games and nor does it make the people who play them all smacktards. Smacktard means NOTHING, because in the "smacktard" community, someone YOU might consider the biggest smacktard of all is probably the most respected twitch-gamer or whatever around. That's equally as valid as being the most tactical guy in PR.


If you want to alter someone's behaviour, do it by explaining calmly why what they're doing is likely to annoy others and help them change. If they're not interested and are having a serious effect on the gameplay on the server - either switch servers or kick them. That is the mature, adult response, and given that the anti-smacktard brigade are trying to claim the moral high ground that is the response they need to use instead of just immediately leaping to abusive behaviour.

Yeah, I've sighed and a tiny part of my soul has died on a server when I've seen "what's the shovel do?" for the tenth time, or "how do I turn on NVGs?" or even "why can't I get in this chopper?"... but so what? I can just ignore them or I can switch, or I can explain how to do it and that the guide that came with the Mod will answer all their questions. If I do the latter, hell, they might even make what *I'd* consider to be a good PR player- which is someone I enjoy playing with.
