Chinese Rebels or Chinese Militia?

Alright I suggested both. Which do you like more? Personally I'd prefer to do the rebels, but some people seem to like the Militia idea more (conventional force).

Pros of doing Militia: Another Force 2 faction that US/GB/Can can fight. Can recycle models AND weapons (save a few) AND voices. Conventional force that has tanks and stuff.

Pros of doing Rebels: Light force, reminicent of the Vietcong. Can eventually have US/GB support in the form of equipment, maybe some "advisors", aka UKSF/USSF/USMSPF.

It's time to choose.

Oh and I would likely be releasing this faction as a seperate .zip file, not sure it would show up in any of the releases.

Interesting idea..i'd personally like to see a vietminh-like anti-communist rebel fraction - could be cool if we get things like tunnel networks(or at least hidden tunnel entrances as spawnpoints) for them - also is not totally unrealistic, as the americans supported groups like this (Vietcong/Mujahiddeen etc.) in the last century...why would they stop doing it now if the need arises? Great Proposition, now let's see what the Dev's say :)

When I think about Rebels and Asia, I think about The Philippines and Indonesia. So I go for Militia.

I say Militia. The idea of a rebel anti-communist guerilla force isn't really realistic in Asia (south america, though, that'd be dead-on). If anything, if they're fighting the PRC, they'd probably be pro-communist as the PRC now denounces these groups and isn't considered communist anyway.

But nicoliani does bring up a point -- currently, there are communist semi-conventional forces waging guerilla wars in India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and up until last year Nepal.. infact south and south-west Asia is probably the most militarily active region on earth right now (outside of Iraq/Afghanistan that is), it'd be cool to include them as a faction.

But as that's kinda unrelated to this post, I'll vote for Militia.

I had considered a South American faction, but we would end up having to make 2 armies -- Rebels and whatever country they where rebelling against.

Rebels, as I think of them as Jungle insurgents instead of another copy of the already ingame militia, but based in China.

Do China actually have rebels?

If so, then I support. If it doesn't, the why make it?

No, China do not have rebels... even in times of war a rebellion would be extremely rare, so I believe a rebel faction would be rather unrealistic to say the least

Maybe they're so underground nobody knows about them!?

I don't see the point of the Rebels or Militia. I vote neither.

I would rather see a North Korean faction (would have similar weapons probably)

We already have 2 North Korea maps I think.

The problem with that is the voices. EG would need a Korean (or someone that sounds convnicing enough) voice actor. Which might be a tad tricky.

You could just use the Chinese voices as a placeholder. Nobody really cares about the voices.
