I like it too, but i think we should focuss on the squads first, we dont need another reason to become a lonewolf ;) But if its put in at somepoint, its alwasy great to have diferent things to choose from.

I really wish people would stop down playing snipers as lonewolves...IRL snipers lonewolf deal with it or just go away.

No point really for the L96A1 mite aswell be a pickup kit.

Thats true a team of two guys. Spotter and shooter.

Just watch "Jarhead" and listen to the instructor.
SNIPERS DO NOT WORK ALONE ... THE WORK AS A TEAM!

The problem is not Snipers working alone, for PR purposes is fine with me...its that they dont do their job. Snipers are mainly a recon unit that relays information back on armor/troop numbers etc. If you are a sniper...then help out...cover your squadies, give them info...stay alive and dont just go shooting at everything because if you do then your position is compromised, people are hunting you down....and you can't spot anything for the good guys.

I find the best snipers to be commanders with Mic's. They can go up ahead and communicate everything at once to all squads. Or if one squad goes as recon and relays the info to the CO who then relays it to the SL's which relay it further.

Sniper teams do not operate in support of a squad, but at a company level or higher. I would think that a sniper's primary function is pinning down or disabling enemy squads by hunting down the SL; its secondary function is recon.

Go and knife a Chinese sniper. And you have a British sniper with L96 :D

In the 0.61 patch and in future, the British forces skins are either RM or Paras. So no need ;)

I know snipers normally operate in 2 man teams, in game though u cant just make a sniper squad and get a rifle, 2 people aint enough, and its very rare to see 2 man teams of snipers actually doing there job and covering the squad.

Yes they are at the Company level, however two man teams will be attached to platoons to support that unit's work. As previously noted, snipers are used extensively for recon and observation, its what they specialize in. On the platoon level they will move into a position to watch the objective, call out observations to the platoon, and give the platoon fire support during the assault on the objective (usually the sniper fires first and tries to take out key assets such as heavy weapons, communications, or command assets). Read the book "Shooter" if you want to get an idea of what a modern sniper is like.

I do think it would be nice to allow snipers to work as a stand alone 2 man squad, and to get their rifle w/o the min currently set in the game, however we all know what would happen in the pub servers. Instead I usually form a spec ops platoon which includes the sniper teams, though for it to be very effective you need to use TS.

Perhaps the alternative would be a "command" squad, include the commander and any unique weapons, such as snipers and HAT, as both of these units would come from the company level to support platoons and squads. That way there would be no snipers or HAT w/o a commander? Just throwing that one out there...

I used to when SF Came with the Soflam, made a perfect spotter, full auto weapon for close encounters and good zoom. Replacing soflam with the binos ruined it for me though :(
