US/China Marine Exchange

Finally found the video clip about the Marine exchange between USMC and PLAN Marines, this happened about a year ago...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFoWCbQjwXw

this is the english "report" of the event
http://beijing.usembassy-china.org.cn/marines_2006.html

The events shown in the video is the 400m obstacle course and a 50m "fun-shoot" w/ QBZ95s... USMC did well, but the PLAN Marines owned  ... But than again, the PLAN Marines are more of a commando force like the Royal Marines.

Would love to see a PLAN Marines faction in PR... I'm thinking about creating it but haven't made up my mind because I'm still learning basic modeling and skinning :-( ... But creating such faction shouldn't too hard considering the weaponry is similar to the PLA in PR.

Well.. I'm thinking about creating this faction... But I probably need help with this because I'm a novice skinner/modeler, so don't hold your breath... If anyone is interested (perferably someone who know BF2 Editor) in helping me create this faction PM me.

Good post PRC_Heavy_Z, its always nice to read about (positive) things that happen behind what the biased news networks report on TV, regarding two of the worlds biggest military powers.

ye I have to admit I didn't know chain had marines until this post hehe. This faction could fit in well to our objective mode with having the PLA on the attack rather than defence ;)

Interesting color scheme of the uniforms that the Marines have. Would be nice to see some competition between US and GB :D

The obstacle course was a timed event. The fastest time during the course went to the Chinese with a time of 2 minutes, 54 seconds. The fastest U.S. Marine was Pfc. Adam Eller with a time of 3:56.
Wow, that was one fast Asian!

Are these Chinese Marines more like US Marines or more of a special forces group such as Delta?

Until I see more movies about the British Military you will have to explain that. :-P

I hear Chinese Marines also compare with the Thai Red Banner Troops...

Would love to see that - especially as a PELA Tournament Player :D

And yes it's great to see some exchange between US and China since China will definately be the new equivalent superpower comparable to the USSR, we don't need a new "Cold War". (Doesn't mean we can't play a game we're these 2 nations are at war with each other:lol :)

At the end of the day its an obstacle course, not war or a war game...how does this simulate combat? Discipline? Military doctrine?

oo wow they beat the U.S. Marines on their own obstacle course

no other Marines have done as much fighting as the U.S. Marine Corps

The USMC did look meaner to me. When the group of Marines marched in they were mostly bigger and stronger looking mofo's. Of course that doesn't mean anything by the results.

Bigger and stronger?
Bigger body = bigger target and higher upkeep cost (more expensive clothes and boots)
Stronger body = you can not decide by bodylook how strong that person actually is. I know a few mountain climbers who looks very ordinary and thin but I believe they would be able to climb Mont Blanc with any marine on the back (before someone flames me - this is not at all some rant against marines or any other soldiers) anytime.

Bigger muscles =/= stronger
;)

It was just an obstacle course it doesn't mean anything. In many "wargames" were russian alfa spetznaz da Beste (and probably most insane).
---

BTW .... GREAT WORK PELA!!!!1!11
That showed to those imperialistic *censored* who are the best soldiers in the World!

Thank you Aljen for the bio lesson but I already knew that from personal experince and training methods I have used.

I was simply talking to a more athetic first impression opinion, not based on anything past that. :D

What about the French, Spanish, Dutch and British Royal Marines? They're all much older than the USMC and have been involved in all the wars that the USMC were in.
