Removing Vanilla maps from HD

A question for the more technically minded of the community. Is it feasible to delete all the Vanilla maps from my disk and still run PR and other mods? And is there any other **** from the game I can get rid of while I'm at it?

You wont be able to play converted maps if you do this (like Oman, or Zatar)

Only the client.zip is required.

I just got rid of all the stuff that isn't modded for PR or I can't see been modded in the foreseeable future. Gave me 3gig which seems worthwhile especially when I'm so strapped for space.
Speaking of which are any more Vanilla maps gonna be ported? I'd love to see stuff like Dalian, Kubra, FuShe and Dragon make a comeback. Seem like nice big well made levels to me with some scope for modding.

If servers do MD5 checks for maps, won't missing maps generate a PB kick? Map MD5 checking is included in the Punksbusted standard config.
Just a thought...

yes will happen on really strict servers...ie very secure servers... happened to me already when i use vbf2 zatar to do the redux...

Ah man, how often do you run into such servers on PR? (It's the only BF2 related thing I play).
Oh and is noone gonna say what's going on with the Vanilla maps eh?

Yeah you might not want to do this or some servers will kick you for missing the maps (even though that's dumb).

Ultimately, a PR release that at install gave you the option to not only install the Mod but then remove everything that wasn't necessary to play the mod safely (i.e.: without being kicked or banned) online would be good.

Yeah that is a nice idea!
