Humvee gunner crouching bug(?)

I don't know if this is a feature or a vBF2 bug but I noticed a few days ago I was playing Road to Kyongan'ni and I was on PLA.
Our squad was pinned down by a Humvee .50 cal across a river and I flanked it. When I saw the Humvee, I saw nobody on the gun, or so it seemed until I zoomed in with my rifle and all I saw were the soldier's hands on the .50 cal. I saw nothing else, not his body or head.
I'm pretty sure he didn't die becuase the gun was still rotating and firing. I'm pretty sure he didn't crouch down because when the soldiers crouch down, don't they cover their ears with there hands? So I shot at the soldier's hands still on the gun once, saw blood, but I got killed by something else.
So was this a vBF2 bug or PR specific bug? I remember this happened in the 0.6 beta but I thought nothing of it so I didn't make a thread about it. I don't have a screenshot of it though, but if I see it again, I'll take a screenshot. Though I admit, that is pretty neat to see just the hands on the .50 cal and not expose yourself and just blind fire where the enemy is coming from.
