Squad Specialization

Squad Specialization
  • Specialization chosen by Squad Leader via CommoRose or other interfaces.
  • Kits and equipment based around that specialization.
If you were to join a squad with a Mechanized
specialization, you would have access to Crewman
kits; however, if you joined an Infantry
specialization squad, you would only have access to
Infantry kits such as Rifleman, Medic, Grenadier
etc., and would not have access to Pilot or Crewman
kits.
__________________________________________________

Image
  • Unlimited amount of squads can be made.
  • Only basic weapon choices and limited kits.
  • Pilot and Crewman kits are not available for this squad.
As you can see, the Infantry squad would be the
basic specialization that new players to the game
would feel more comfortable with joining. The
Infantry squads also form the backbone of the
team’s war machine and are primarily there to do
the shooting, all other sections are for support
purposes.
__________________________________________________

Image
  • Limited specialization, needs a set number of
infantry squads in order to become available.
  • More effective kit loadouts than basic infantry.
  • Pilot and Crewman kits are not available for this squad.
Many people believe that the Spec Ops class should
be there primarily to cause large amounts of damage
with the aid of explosives; however, from a
realistic standpoint the majority of Special Forces
work is done through aggressive patrolling and
maintaining dangerous areas with few men.

Special forces take the weight and strain off of
the regular military’s back and bringing to the
battlefield a highly trained, equipped, and
impressively armored fighting force that can do
with four men what would take two or more squads
to achieve.
__________________________________________________

Image
  • Contains exclusive access to Crewman kits, does
    not need to request them.
  • Does not have access to Pilot kits or other limited kits.
  • Specialization limited to at most two of these
    squads per team.
The Mechanized Specialization would cover APCs and
Tanks, allowing a specific squad to control the
team’s entire armored assets.
__________________________________________________

Image
  • Has exclusive access to Pilot kits, does not
    need to request them.
  • Can not request Crewman kits or other limited kits.
  • Specialization limited to one of these squads per team.
The Air Force would consist of any and all air vehicles
a team possesses.

Information above is subject to change.

nice simple way of doing squad specializing. but, like all previouse suggestions of how to do this-devs please tell us this isn't impossible!

if more kit loadouts were made for sf squad, perhaps a total of 4-all with pistol and both frag/smoke grenades: captain (m4a1 with ACOG, soflam, flashbangs, can set rallies, body armor), demolition (M4A1 w/ Aimpoint and multiple smaller c4 bricks, no armor), weapons seargent (M4A1 w/ ACOG and M203:3 shells, flashbangs, body armor), medic (M4a1 w/ aimpoint, no armor).
support and sniper/marksman, Rifleman AT should also be available to sf squad.

perhaps a foward air controller (FAC) kit could be added to the air squad?

I remember Top Cat suggested something like this, I also remember agreeing to it too.

There was an explination of the SF squad that i had in mind when writing that part of the suggestion.

All of their kits would have body armour. the reason given was that Special Forces nowadays are basically used as guinea pigs by tactical gear manufacturers, manufacturers of body armour get their feedback from the special forces community and the diversity between squad members tactical gear is evident throughout many of the pictures and movies i have seen.

As for weaponry, i proposed that each class would receive something that would make it somewhat more powerful than the standard infantry kit, one of the ideas was for the Grenadier class to have an M79 instead of an M16+M203, having a powerful stand alone grenade launcher would require the user to switch between weapons but would also allow them to have a scoped rifle, making them a very important part of the SF squad.

The rest of the SF kits would feature similar "upgrades", scoped rifles, sidearms, extra ammo bags, etc etc. They would be transformed into a powerful small tactical group that would be able to hold important areas with fewer resources.

Yeah, Top Cat originally made this suggestion as far as I know. At first, I didn't think it would work to well with the current system, but after some brainstorming myself I think this could very well work.

The specialized officer kits would have to be unlimited however. This is because we want to avoid the confusion that would be caused if "Alpha" squad managed to get the mechanized SL kit before "Armor" squad. Though, you would still need a specific amount of players in your squad (and on your team) to actually request these kits. Infantry would always be available, mechanized SL kits only become available when the server is about 1/4 full, and air about 1/2 full.

Another, somewhat interesting idea would be the capability of Infantry and Mechanized squads to spawn vehicles. Infantry squad SLs could spawn in Light and Heavy jeeps, while Mechanized squad SLs can spawn APCs, Tanks and other heavy armor assets. Obviously they can only do this at the main base (Well... maybe Infantry can spawn jeeps at friendly CPs), must have certain amount of members in the squad, plus other strict limits I'm sure the devs could come up with. Only vehicles that would rely on the "wave" spawn would be aircraft, since you sort of need them to spawn on their runways and what have you.

Top_Cat's thread.

I'm not in favor of having four different officer kits
with four different rally points that have a limited
number of a limited kit.

Instead, I'd just prefer it if Squad Leaders could set
their squad specialization through the GUI, the most
convenient method being that of the CommoRose. Right
now, however, I'm looking for developer insight on the
topic at hand.

If they find a way to do it, I'll take what I can get.

EXCELLENT

I dont give a damn and i think most people dont either who suggests the idea or how precisely it is implamented! LETS JUST HOPE THE BE-LOVED DEVS TRY HARD TO GET SQUAD SPECIALIZATION IN GAME.
:p

Safe if they can get it to work that way - sounds simpler than multiple squad leader kits. ALthough i have no idea how GUI system would work, the squad leader system was the only way i personaly could think squad specialization could be done but i hope i am WRONG. ;-)

THats something i badly wanted, you will notice particular at end of my thread. So lets hope this time round we get some serious DEV feedback. :? :

Maybe you should state that in your original post. Nothing was stated about how to acquire these specialized kits.

Edit: Thanks.

Me likes! It angers me to no end when I go and create a Squad called "tanks" only to have my tanks stolen from me from some random players not in my squad.

I VOTE YES

this would be so awesome

and it would create a solution for the spec ops issue....devs?

Awesome. Only problem I see is with transport choppers having almost no communication with infantry squads other than to rely on the game chat which frequently gets spammed.

You get a CO then.

You could also use TeamSPeak or Vent. The problem Eagle you just described has driven me to use TS every time i play PR and the TS server i use, oftens contains 10 players overall. This is plenty enough to allow basic infantry and air/armour close co-ordination.

E.G.
1 TS user creates a INF. squad
1 TS user creates an APC. or Air Tran. Heli squad

The Air Tran. Heli can provide the INF. squad with super fast transport while the APC coudl provide the INF. squad with transport, a spwn and access to limited kits.
Becuase the 2 SLs can communicate through VOIP easily, the chance of the APC/ Heli not stopping/ taking off too soon, stopping/landing in the wrong place or at the wrong time CAN ALMOST BE ELIMINATED!

This simple organization cna increase the effectiveness of an INF. squad enough to crush another INF. squad time and time again. For this reason i am totaly adament it is worth every bit of effort that goes into getting TS and joining it before playing PR. I do hope in the future this sort of very SIMPLE and EASY organization is common.

While a squad specializaiton system woudl just encourage such and make PR games that bit more FUN. FUN = INF. and Armour and Air workign closely together with out crushings or missed pickups/stops/airdrops/firesupprt!!!!!

Ah yes, this is why I LOVE having one or two squadmembers utilizing air or armor power to supplement my squad. However, if/when possible, utilizing TS to command a full 12-man squad is the shit. Even if only the two squad leaders are linked via TS, thats all you essentially need.

PS - Very good appearance for the suggestion/original post. Even if the idea is hard-coded or not, it's simply worth having people view it.

Um, usually whatever is lowest ping for me. TG and Texas are two memorable ones that I not only remember, but frequent(I usually stick to US or UK servers). Feel free to pm or xfire(username is nycalling) me if you wanna do some gamin or whatever.
