Forgive the ignorant questions

I have a couple questions that after a quick look over the PDF file were still on my mind. Please keep in mind I am new to the first person shooters online. Due to my years being on a slow dial up I am only now able to play online vs out of the box vs AI. :)

1. How come there are vehicles I am unable to drive off in? Occasionally I find one that allows me to drive, but the majority of tanks, trucks, cars, choppers I am unable to use.

2. What does Rank matter? I don't have a lot of time to play as I work and my family comes first, but is there some kind of advantage for being ranked. If I have a couple hours a week would it be worth my time to become "ranked"?

Thanks in advance. :)

u can't drive other teams vechles. And u need a crewman kit 2 drive tanks, apc's, and support vechles. U also need a pilot kit to fly all aircraft. U go to main and they should be under kit request

As an engineer you can drive the support vehicle (same size as a humvee/jeep)

request a crewman kit to drive a tank or apc. There are rules for requesting kits and rules for tagging a vehicle in the manual I hope

request a pilots kit for choppers and planes

requesting kits relies on being in a squad and a certain number of players in the squad and you joined/made the squad before the round countdown timer or have been in the squad for so long.

Rnaks aren't a major issue. The ABR system of Alternative Battle Ranking applies to a lot of PR servers (current issues with making ABR run right under certain specific circumstances)
Ranking does provide some self respect I guess (says the man who got a few badges he'd missed and suddenly hit Colonel :) )

The last section in the PDF is called "Kits Galore". Read through this section.

hey Dog, congratulations on the broadband and welcome to PR, you made the right choice in this mod. Don't feel shy in asking us any questions about the game or on-line gaming. No matter how ignorant you feel they are. We're on our own in this here cyberworld.

Welcome to PR and the forums, daddog! As mentioned above, the Kits Galore section of the guide should answer most/all of your kit related questions. A tip from me as a dedicated squadleader: use a microphone if you can, and don't be shy to tell your squadmates that you're new and would like to learn from them! I'll gladly invite you to my squad anytime I see you. I play mostly on Thors Brigade (EU server), but I highly recommend Texas Teamplay or the famous Tactical Gamer servers: many experienced and helpful players there.

See you on the battlefield!

Welcome to the mod, you will like it here.

Just a note about vehicles, especially helicopters, I would strongly recommend you create a local server and practice driving/flying the various vehicles as they take some practice to get used to.

I very much agree with prctising, not only flying, but get to know the other vehicals as well, I mean, I have been playing for about 3 months, and I still didn´t know that APCs had heat rounds. :-P

No question you don´t know the answer to is a stupid one.

EDIT: I suggest you download the kashan 16 player training version to practise flying all the aircraft and tanks and such.

Okay... :|

When you request kits, you must to be in a squad. Don't forget it :)

It is expected of the person who downloads the game to read the manual.

Playing PR without reading the manual, is like mounting something from IKEA withoutfollowing the instructions, it leads to throwing the product away.

LOL some of your replies gave me a good laugh. Thank you gentlemen. I really appreciate all the replies, suggestions and links. I will do my home work and be diligent about using vox. I will read the PDF file again this time with coffee in hand and my reading glasses. ;) I have a long weekend coming up and only a few papers to grade.

I will definitely practice the vehicles off line before I try it online. I don’t want it to end up being target fodder. ;)

Is there any AI in an off line mode or am I doomed to be butchered by the vets for my first few weeks? :)

expected? of course.

done on a regular basis? ha!

Im thinking maybe in the range of 5-15% actually open the pdf. But I dont know, Im just looking at it like I am with mods. I download them and play them. Especially after someone downloads the what, near 2 gig PR .exe? Theyre not gonna want to take another few minutes to read when they can jump on in and play.

:)

Uh... could someone point me in the direction of where to download that? I read somewhere on the forums that version had just about all the vehicles in the game on it and some spawn timers tweaked to make practicing not so painful.

2 gigs is more than enough time to check out the guide.
