Server Side Options & Bunny Hopping

Just off a couple hour playing session in vanilla BF2 and it never ceases to amaze me how pathetic the basic game is. Is there any chance that in the future there might be some server side options available for imposing class limits and eliminating some or all vehicles from the maps? I'm still interested in seeing how you tweak the vehicles, but I'm pretty much convinced that outside of team/clan type matches where you have practiced people working together that there's no place for a lot of that stuff in the game.

Another thing that really is starting to bother me is the bunny hopping. It's absolutely startling how much of that shit goes on, and it's even more startling that it actually seems to work for people. I don't know what, if any, workarounds you have planned for this, but for heaven's sake I hope you come up with something. I think the increased weapon lethality in PRMM is going to help a lot, but when you have to hit a guy 5-6 times to kill him with your BF2 airsoft M16 it's ludicrous.

EDIT: Oh, and is there a decent tutorial out there for modding kits, weapon damage, etc.? Nothing too intense, but just basic manipulation. Is it anything like the simple .tik file modding for MoH, or is it a lot more complex than that? I'm tempted to tinker around with it myself just to see what I can see, but I don't even know where to begin. Thanks.

Just make new maps ;)

Its to bad BF2 doesnt support custom player numbers in terms of maps. We could have 128 different versions of the same map :(

I've started seeing an increased amount of dolphin-diving C4 n00bs on Strike at Karkand. Basically they run around the whole time with only C4 in their hands. They do a full on dolphin-dive routine to avoid death until they can deploy the C4 and run away...

Or they dolphin-dive and n00b tube it...

n00b tubing, dolphin diving... these are the most effective forms of combat in BF2.

This is what happens when you make the game so arcady that this can happen. Many people view it as cheap... but in a game like BF2... its fair game.

You think its the players that are retarded? Its the game.

There is no chance at all that this will be seriously addresed. maybe it will be addresed like the AA missles... which were made a bit better, but not enough.

There should be a how to dolphin dive BF2 Guide cause I dont know how they do it. There is no way I can jump, dive, jump, dive all while trying to shoot. LOL

I will make a "how-to" video on how to dolphin-dive.

... Just have to find myself a dolphin video...

speaking of server side options can we get this used on our servers?

I have not tested it on any custom made maps yet, but it works on all the standard maps. It should work with custom maps if they spawned vehicles in the same way as the standard maps.

Its default setting is INFANTRY ONLY, removing all vehicles except boats.
It can be changed to:
- remove only certain vehicles
- replace only certain vehicles with a random one from a list of your choice.

As far as I know only one server was running INF only for a while, and it no longer exists. I never got anyone to try all choppers yet, that might be fun for a bit.
