The Project Reality Development Team has been hard at work over the past month and we are coming to you today with a number of exciting updates!

-GameFlood Map and Mod Contest Results
Image
The GameFlood Map and Mod Contest winners have been announced and the Project Reality Mod has taken first place in the First-Person-Shooter category! We were up against some outstanding mod teams which included mods from not only Battlefield 2, but also several other popular games including Half-Life 2 and Unreal Tournament. All of your initial votes helped secure us a position as a top 10 finalists and from their, we were selected by a panel of industry expert judges to take home first place. Here is what they had to say about us:

“Project Reality - The most fun I had playing any of the mods. With so much work that's gone into it that's resulted in so much stuff to do. ” - Scott Nagy of THQ, Inc (Contest Judge)

We would like to say thank you to everyone who participated and voted in the contest and also to GameFlood.com for hosting the competition and for providing an outstanding community website for Mod teams to publish and discuss their work.

-Project Reality Training Team Goes Live

The Project Reality Training Team (PRTT) has gone live this week, paving the way for players to hone their skills in regular training sessions.
Image
The team will be available each Thursday evening British time (currently 1900 - 2000 hrs GMT+1) on a private server with Teamspeak available. Each session will be a chance for PR players both new and old to practice aspects of the game that they may be unfamiliar or struggle with, or even just to pick up some tips and advice from experienced players.

After an hour-long training session with organized practice exercises, skirmishes and drills, the [ABA] (British Armed Forces) guys will join us; trainees and their instructors will go up against the professionals for a friendly bout in a chance to test their new skills!

The team is currently recruiting two-to-three more instructors; if you think you're a mature team player with experience and knowledge of the game you want to share with others, either get in touch with [R-PUB]Masaq or visit the Training Team's forum at: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f134.html

For further information on how to attend training nights, also see the PRTT forum. Updates with details of the first session will be posted over the next few days.

-Project Reality v0.61 Patch Update

While progress has been steady, we are taking a bit longer than initially intended to finalize the v0.61 patch as a few of our project leads have been busy dealing with real life issues. None the less, we do hope to release the Project Reality v0.61 patch in the very near future.

Here are a few of the finalized changes and fixes which will be included:
  • Removed Crewman Wrench from Crewman Kit, tanks will now have to have engineer support to repair themselves.
  • Rally points now give ammo again.
  • Some maps have had significant game play adjustments, including ticket bleed adjustments, vehicle spawns and timers, Capture Point adjustments, etc. Full list of all these changes will be posted.
  • Scoring system has been overhauled to encourage more teamwork actions and to fix a few incorrect scoring bugs.
  • Fixed a lot of python scripting problems that were causing server and client crashes.
  • Python code has been refined significantly to hopefully improve server performance.
  • Insurgency mode overhauled, should be working properly now.
As always, we would like to thank the community for there dedication and continued support. Be sure to keep an eye on the Project Reality Forums for more updates!

I have to emit im back to vanilla BF2 just now…I could not get enough of PR 0.5 but the 0.6 version is just too unstable now for me to enjoy. My machine never crashes but it does with PR 0.6 so I removed it.

I was waiting for a new machine and 0.7 but this patch might help.

Is Mestia getting any overhals? It is a nice map, but it is kind of small. It just needs to be a little more spread out. and maybe 1.5x bigger.

Any plans to change also the weapons of crewman? I think normal no crewman will carry a G3 etc.

Congrats to the Devs. Just more confirmation this is the best mod in the world!

Rally points gave ammo in 0.5 and should have done in 0.6. So this patch just corrects that omission.
