Destroying the myth of a 1 man tank crew
Posted: 2007-09-04 00:27
by Rambo_Matt{USA}
Hello everyone, I hear all day about people saying 1 man tank crew sucks or 1 man tank crew is not as good as a 3 or 2 man tank crew. Well I have something to say you are full of it and I have the evidence to proove it.
A man named Rambo who was captain of a 1 crew tank managed to defeat a 2 & 3 crew tank not once not twice but multiple times. Now all this may change next patch when the wrench is removed. On a side note ENGINEERS do you're damn jobs I ask for repairs and you run past my tank. Do you're jobs or I tk you.
These are just a few screen shots of my evidence I have dozens of them but im not here to brag only to destroy this myth thats going around.
On a side note I beat TF21_Pattersons record I managed to get 83 and 0 Patterson only had 71 and 1

It's not that they suck because they aren't effective. They just suck because they're the unrealistic tool of stat whores.

I'm not sure what "myth" you are dispelling here...we know that 1 man tank crews can be effective, and thats something we're trying to limit. You'll find most people here don't like the idea of a 1-man tank crew.
Also, your attitude about TKing engineers who don't repair you will not be tolerated here. You're fishing for a ban with those kinds of statements. The community doesn't like that kind of behavior, and we don't like that kind of behavior. Act maturely.

just so you know, all three maps you've shown are densely populated city/woodland maps. These maps require patience and ambush tactics for tanks to be effective. Try soloing in a desert map before you come around with comments like that.
PS: Those maps have very little tanks because they are supposed to be the focal point of the battle. I dear to say that tanks should be taken out from all maps except the PR crated desert maps until proper tank setup is achieved.

i thought you had a real life evidence. as our friend JP*wasteland.soldier said. its not that they are not efective, the thing is that a tank cant be succesfull with 1 crew in the real life. and guess what, this is Project Reality Mod.
about the TKing, you're joking, right?!

There is something to note about the Abrams... according to one of my clan mates, there is more or less an exploit you can use to one-shot-kill an Abrams because if you hit an in a certain area (not going to say it here), it will bounce off the shallow angle and hit the tank again, register two hits, but you've only shot it once. Therefore, you bragging about beating the US in tank battles isn't much to brag about.
I would hit on the TKing note, but that has already been addressed and I don't want to get myself more pissed off by talking/thinking about it.
Oh, and Patty was probably just having a bad day.

LOL.
Rambo, do yourself a favour and go play vanilla. You don't see the big picture. The game is clearly not intended to be played in this manner. The fact that it is effective doesn't mean jack, that has always been known. Just because you can play the game, how it's not designed to be played, well doesn't mean jack.
It's just like when everyone bunnyhopped and noob-tubed in early BF2 releases when it was the best tactic to use. It's a matter of your own self-respect to play the game how it's meant to be. Lots of people have the know-how to glitch. yes this would give them an advantage, but no decent PR player would ever do this. I see 1-man tanking no difference from this.

its between the hull and the turret , whats wrong with knowing that?
ALSO, solotanking (imo) is a litle more *realistic* in certains ways , for example you dont have the anoying "stop! stop! to the rigth! NOO ! the other right! haa jebus , he hit us first" , you dont have the shaking gun when moving , etc,etc .
now , IM NOT DEFENDING SOLOTANKING , i hope that in the next version that isue will be solved , but not for bad (adding 32942987 hours of delay for the guner or inaviliting the tank if you dont have a driver) but for good (ADDING things like oneshoot-onekill , a working system between comander-gunner and some stabilisation, etc )

One manning isn't necessarily ineffective as it is less effective. In a defensive position a dug in tank, even with one man, is hard to get out if it's in the right area. On a highly offensive map were movement is key, you're going to be in a less effective position. I'm not going into in-depth tactics here, but in short, the two maps I could identify (Qwai & Sunset) both have very nasty choke points that a can be covered at range almost indefinitely by a tank. All you'd have to worry about is ammo unless the US has an effective Little Bird support and coordinating with a H-AT. Heck, given the elevation advantage the Chinese have up to the mid-point of Sunset City and the other half being mostly a city fight, even US armor isn't to terribly effective. Solo tanking could work fairly easily on either map as you would have to move very often given the proper support.

I really think you need a Non-Postable part of the Forums called the Vault, like on Total BF2.com, where all the things that peaple shouldn't say go into....

lol @ beating Patty, try to replicate that on a regular basis before bragging about it
On another note, you just proved why we need to take out solotanking. Also, improve that "Listen to me or I'll TK you" attitude or no one is going to play with you.

I just can't wait to run by your smoking tank, waving my wrench in the air like I just don't care.
But then again, you chose the name "Rambo" so that says a lot about your attitude.
Try reading the original novel," First Blood ", and maybe gain a little insight into the mindset of Special Forces operator.
