Intentional Tk's

Just now, I was on the TG server with another dev, when topcat ruined our fun.

We had a two man squad, and were working well with two tanks, creating static defenses using the armour instead of using a single two man crewed tank. (It's easier to defend an emplacment this way, the germans and british used it a bit in WW2 and was very effective.)

Things were going well until, of course, we were both quickly removed from the map when a USMC convoy ambushed us, and we couldnt hold our ground well enough, especially as they had sneaked around the back of us and popped off the first round into our backs.

So we waited for a good long time when topcat comes along. He told us that we had to let the tanks go to armour squad which he had just created at that moment.

We told him in lament terms no, just because you have a squad name dedicated to armour doesn't give you the right to reserve vehicles, or queue jump.

Three tanks spawn in short sucession, and both Matrox and I jumped into our own vehicles and got ready to set up a defensive position the commander had given us.

Suddenly, to my surprise, Matrox was kicked from the server. On msn he quickly told me that topcat decided that running infront of the tank was a good plan. He was punished for a tk and removed. This probably wasnt helped with some fun we had had with one another previously in the match with our grenades.

I confronted Topcat with this and he said in his true annoying fashion something along the lines of "two people, one tank. Thats the rule and the rules are final." He then went off about how he was talking to the drunk server owner, and that i should shut up. I was then auto kicked for swearing (I understand that, I was a tad angry.)

Well, we had worked well as a team before and had managed to set up a defensive position that was very effective. Had we been a single tank, we would have not been able to hold the oilfields.

Is it wrong to throw yourslef infront of a tank as if we were in tiannamen square? Is it wrong to create a squad called armour and then demand to have the next few tanks, despite the fact that you had allready worked well with the commander and been waiting almost triple the time the squad had.

And the real question that I want to put to the public is, is one man tanking still an awful thing? I don't think so in some circumstances. When building a defensive position I would say its very effective. I would say however that jumping in and out of the driver/gunner seat isn't really acceptable, as that is a bit glitchy and frowned upon in my eyes. What do you think?

It's their server yada yada, follow their rules or find another server yada yada. I'd write more but it'd be just as effective in getting a response there.

and yes a one-man tank is very effective...another thing is topcat even registered in the forums here?

Before we go anywhere with this, this isn't a slag off the TG server thread. The guys have an excellent server, and even better players. I play there regularly as I think most of the time they are harsh but fair. I have alot of time for the TG lot. I'm talking about one man tanking in it's entireity. If anyone starts slagging of the TG lads I will remove thier posts, keep those feelings to yourselves guys and take it up with them.

Don't get me wrong, that response was a summary of all posts such as yours that just seem to fall on deaf ears. One man tanking while frowned upon does not condone the asshattery seen here. Forcing TK's should never be allowed. Seeing as it was the TG server though, unless stated in their rules or directed by your commander I don't see why there would be an issue with 1 man tanking.

EH, this guy?

Ontopic, I really dislike people soloing tanks, but as it is now, sadly one-man tanks are more effective than crewed, so untill that gets fixed (crewed tanks get advantages over solo) we'll have to live with it...

But forcing TK is the worst kind of TK ever.../sick

I noticed something about that, and not to slam the admins on TG (as it is my favorite server and generally enjoy my time there), but this seem to only occur with TG admins or members in those squads. Usually if a squad is named 'armor' or some such, if they just get one tank or APC it usually called good. After getting blown up twice they usually ditch using armor anyways but keep the squad name.

Now if someone with [TG] in there name shows up in that squad, it supposedly gives them a license to commender any piece of armor they see fit even if the squad was just made or hasn't been using armor for the past half hour. If you argue the point you're gone, even if it happens half way through the game and you non-'armor' squad is using the tanks to good effect. And don't get me started on the 'air' or 'sniper' squads either.....

i know that some time peopel do taht but i remember 1 game i was tanking and my squad pwned 10+ tanks on Kashan. We were all single so were they or most were anyway. In my mind single tanks are better because there are 2 different people and u dont have sudden movements when gunning to toss ur aim off.

swiftdraw, when you start paying for the server, you can use all the toys you want.

As for what TopCat did, its a tad retarded, "i want to be in the tank so you cant have them!", a bit childish, immature, etc, and im not giving the devs elite status, but if a DEV wants to use a tank then id let him, they made the fecking game after all :P .

REMEMBER LADIES AND GENTLEMEN EVILHOMERS UNDESTANDING OF THE SITUATION IS UTERLY UN-BIASED AND PERFECT.
*sarcastic jke, purpose: make people think carefully before posting, no harm intended  *
Got Dinner but i have read all hear and writing a quick, SERIOUSLY un-opiniated comment - my perspective.

So i suggest you avoid COMING TO YOUR JUDGEMENTS TOO SOON on the situation.

I think that you are right in this situation... but sometimes intentional TK's are deserving...

For Instance, I was banned from Tactical Gameplay for flaming Ret1 for being a piss poor commander, not issuing ANY order then griping to the SL's that we weren't following his orders... then flaming the SL's again for poor decision making. I rolled up to him 2 times and capped him in his face and told him to quit whining like a *****

Is this about who's got the strongest dad? Get along, children.

@evil, is this post really about intentional TK, who has the "right" to the tank, or abuse of power? I really want both sides here, on both topics.
@topcat, ironic sigg suddenly.
@rhino, whats that all about? gang-mentality? caps, bold or italic, it gives pretty much the same message. Dude wrote he was in a rush.

I don't think this is the right forum to discuss it, theres a server-forum with specific thread for TG server, there it would be best to post it instead of here where it will provoke flaming and bashing.

All cap letters on a internet forum = shouting/angry. Basic forum knowledge.

It is a normal fact that young ppl talk with caps lock on even if they aint wanting to portray they are shouting / angry.

prove me wrong if you think I am.
