I notice this semi auto sniper rifle in the Object_client & Objects_server.zip\Weapons\Handheld\ zip files. This weapon has never been enabled and it's simply the big brother to the M95 (even though the barrels are the same. I ask that this be added to the game. My only suggestion is that you can only use it prone and add a Detachable Bipod with Adjustable Legs.
Here is the website with more detail:
Barret Rifles

as a limited spawn kit maybe, but i dont think it should be added to any class. it would only make sense for US / brits to have this, and would be over-whelming against the other rifles.

It's not like the russians, MEC, chinese or what's not don't have their anti-material sniper rifle. Get them in, then add back the M82.
Would be pretty weird to add it to US/UK armory while not having a 50 cal for the OPFors while so many "whine" about MEC/CHA being disadvantaged vs the US.

Are the ranges in BF2 even long enough to justify putting it in?

is this really neccesary? we already get accused of being a snipers mod, i really dont see what makes adding another sniper rifle worth it especially when its basically the same thing as the M95

Adding a munchkin sniperrifle is bull**** ( sorry )
The ranges in the game arent't made for such rifles. Give me at least 1200m view and i would want it in-game, too. Otherwise it's like shooting pigeons with cannons.

In PRMM 0.2 rev1 we made the sniper rifles less accurate. Now the only way to get them fully accurate is to stay in prone and trying to move as less as possible. Still 1shot=1kill...

if its till one shot one kill for the snipers currently in PRMM why would we need to add another one? let alone something like the M82 or M95 i know everyone wants there noob tube, but is it really neccesary

I was explained a few years back that the M82 primary role, before very long range engagement (which would make no sens in BF2), was anti-material.
And i'm sorry, but with all the vehicles and their armor plating (e.g. hummer with armor plating and bullet-proof glass), I think a rifle like the M82 would definately play a key role and will have its use. Actually, that is really what I was using the M95 for; anti-material. You could even take a chopper down with it (or take out the pilot).

the biggest reason the M82 is considered an Anti Material weapon is because it fires the a .50 round anything firing a round that size has to be considered anti material because the Geniva(sp) Conention bans the use of the .50 in weapons classified as Anti-personel

M82 variants (M82A1, M82A3 and M107) will eventually be added to the game
in place of the M95, as the M95 has not been adopted by US or UK forces. We want to make the AMRs into
deployable weapons so that they may only be used in the prone/supported position, as is the case in real life, so they cannot fire on the move.

Good idea Eddie. Also, I hope they are only in maps where the extreme ranges would justify thier use, or that they work properly as anti light vehcile weapons.

I could be wrong but when I zip through that file and compared it to the M95 a lot of info appeared to be missing from M82A1. As if they stopped in mid work or something...

that seems to be the case for alot of different things like the laser designator

No doubt they'll resurface in an addon somewhere down the line. "Here are those things in the original game we couldn't be arsed to give you... now give us £20"

They shouldnt have rushed the game..... alot of good content is missing because of it
