ok i love the mod but since the hotfix ive found the M24 worse than Vanilla BF2 accuracy wise, when you fire it it either misses - hits and kills - or hits but you dont know it because it still makes a puff on the ground, can i suggest adding more blood for sniper hits and increase the accuracy but add the tank range finder and make it so the first bar is 100 meters the second 150 etc so that snipers have to check there range first and adjust there drop accordingly.

Now that's a great idea!
I think snipers should be extremely leathal but they shouldn't just be point and click. There has to be something more and this sounds like it would fit the realism bill nicely.

Maybe you see the puff still because it's simulating penetration and exit? Those rounds are very very effective at going through the poor human body, depending how good your body armour is of course.
Sounds like a nice idea. This mod is turning into OFP on the BF2 engine, or at least that's how people want it to end up. That simulates bullet drop very well and they actually TRAVEL! Not just instant hit like most games (even the Rainbow Six games had insta-hit... but then in their defence they were generally in built up maps in close quarters).
The more skill it takes to become a good sniper the better. It'll automatically weed out the morons who just go sniper to be "cool" or spawn camp and stuff. Actually I think there should be a spawn protection of say 2 - 5 seconds where you can't shoot or be injured/killed, like in Hidden and Dangerous 2 (make it a server side admin option or something). It should give you enough time to run to cover when you spawn to avoid being sniped or blown to **** with artillery the second you appear.

Ya i love the sniper effect in this game. THe bullet trajectory is great. I was shot waay across the map, and there was a 1 second delay until I saw the piff.
But ya the accuracy was messed up in this hotfix. Bring it back to normal, and, like the guy said, add in a range indicator (it's abstract of course, for your ease).
ALSO, add a to-scope black period, because u have adjust ur eye to the scope, and u tend to squint ur eye a bit (thats what i hear). Have it like it is in DOD or Red orchestra.

the accuracy was deliberately changed as Archenemy said in another thread if you want it to be accurate you must stand still this is to add more of a challenge to the sniper thus making it a less attractive weapon thus reducing the number of snipers

i think some crosshair sway and the rangefinder with bullet drop would make it much more realistic and challenging.

range finder would be cool eather as part of the sniper or put into Binocs and add those to the sniper kit
as far as sway it may be too much work for the Mini-Mod
i dont really know how noticeable bullet drop would be IRL so i dont know how practical an idea it is in this mod

"crosshair sway" when zoomed in with the Sniper rifle should show the black insides of the scope coming into view (or even totally blocking the view).
When you first look into a scope, you have to align your head & eyes or all you see is black - moving should show this... And yeah, I like the idea of adjusting the scope according to range, as I said before.

Couldn't agree more. But we had no-time to implent it in the hotfix, that's why we tried to reduce the accuracy in another way. I can assure you that in the next release of Project Reality the sniper rifle will be tweaked alot more, and will include some new interesting features.

Weapon sway, in particular for sniper rifles, and for all weapons in general, would kick major ***.
Also, turning the binoc thingies into sniper rangefinders is a good idea i think.

Archenemy just explained to me that u have to wait a little while before shooting, and THEN it stabilizes! XOXO (jk)

I went prone and placed my scope crosshairs over an enemy gunner. I waited four seconds. I missed.
This happened over ten times

Delta Force 2 handled the bullet drop ( in my opinion) perfectly. If BF2 sniper rifles are changed to have the same bullet drop as DF2 then everything will be fine.

I have waited plenty and still missed. I have sat on a stand still player and missed.

i think having to switch between bino's and rifle to check range is to much - just have the range finder in the sniper scope

I made 2 changes on top of what arch did to sniper rifles. I seriously decreased accuracy and increased time to recuperate when jumping. I also decreased accuracy and increased time to recurperate when turning. If you turn too quickly and fire it will be an inaccurate shot.

Naah, they dropped too much. Bf2 has it fine.

When exactly does it stabilize and retain normal accuracy? (before hotfix)
