I always assumed that where there was barbed wire, you couldn't put a grappling hook there- however i was on the other day and went up on some barbed wire with a grappling hook, got a little hurt but didn't bleed.

So, my question is that is the barbed wire on seven gates there to direct attackers to particular spots- rather than being a physical barrier?

its hurts after jumping off the rope, i found taking damage from barbwire caused me to fall off the wall

When practicing for this map with BCST we found that you could go straight through.

If it doesn't block climbing completely it should at least slow it down and hurt like hell to get through, i.e. stonervision and MEDIC!

Tbh I never even tried climbing over the barbed wire. I just assumed its impossible

i have tryed several times to go through barbed wire but i always fall!! how is it that some ppl can go through?!

You can also get over the VCP wall on basrah very easily with a civi in your squad.

Edit: but dont try to get back out. Cause for some reason it throws you back if you try to go the other way over the wall. Kinda like prison.

In our collection of intel on 7 Gates for the tournement you can throw the grappling hook whereever there is barbed wire and take little to no damage climbing up (You just magically appear at the top having flattened to a pancake to slide under the barbed wire). Which makes no sense. Why have it there if it does nothing to detour the enemey. I think this is a MAJOR disadvantage to the PLA.

Thougth everyone knew this. I have been doing it since beta.

mmm, now the debate on whether this is an exploit when used in game....

Is it possible to drop a barbed wire into the wall? Like half in the wall and half out like the put the barbed wire in and poured the concrete. Would that prevent a person from going under it? Or mapping it so there is a ledge sticking out that prevents them from making it up where there is barbed wire. Or even try and mak it so its not on top but sticking outover the ledge on the side?

Its really a false sense of security for people who don't know. Maybe if it cant be fixed just take em out so people at least know that someone can come up that wall with hooks.
