tard sniper reduction

how about when snipers die they have a four minute respawn time? i think it would greatly encourage a more realistic use of the sniper kit and make spotters *way* more important.

The sniper *kit* already takes 5 minutes to be available to request again, so I think this is covered. You really don't want to lose the kit.

but a long down time for the actual person would make the person using the kit much more cautious...

/agree 100 percent. Brilliant idea. A sniper shouldn't be a front line unit, if they die obviously the person wasn't using it right. I've gone a whole round not dying with a sniper kit.

Or they were well hidden but some random guy comes barreling towards them in a jeep and spots you since the grass doesn't render :P

Alone or with a buddy? I can go 20 minutes alone before i A)Run out of ammo or B) My position is discovered. With a buddy usually the whole round.

Any idiot that says that hasn't faced a squad of guys that know how to q-spot spam and use the grass draw distance to their favor. Stop playing against bots.

A 4 minute respawn timer for sniper would be retarded, period. At least until we implement ghuile suits that draw at all distances, proper grass that draws at all distances, being able to draw enemy kits at all distances, view bullet impact, proper ballastics, etc etc would be required looooooooong before you can choose to punish a sniper for dieing.

Idiot? I was'nt talking against bots i was talking against real live people on Kashan! Maybe you should learn how to hide amongst the small hills and irregular terrain that breaks up your silhouette even with a Ghillie suit on!

Do you know why i cant last an entire round with a squady spotting even when he has no ghillie suit? Because the greatest threat to sniper is not the guy who sees you through his scope and shoots but the guy who he tells where you are and he gets close enough to you making the pistol rounds not that effective against a .308 or .223, Where as a spotter can watch your back and engage targets that get too close.

Then you were playing against idiots. Q-spotting works over hill tops artard. You can get 4 chances every 30 seconds. Average squad size of 4 guys that's 16 q-spots instantly every 30 seconds. They will find you, period. Then just hop in a vodnik/apc, and run you over, jack your rifle, and laugh.

Heheheh, oh the irony! :p

It's more to do with the fact that the sections in PR are no where near big enough to accommodate 1 nevermind 2 snipers, at least with the divisions PR is working with, and people who play as snipers generally don't do a very good job of aiding the team.

Roadkills are the best way to die ever.

I know, I took a regular car in Basra as civilian and ran over a British squad leader, who was sitting next to a ridge with his squad spawning out of his **** and harassing the Insurgents.

No i dont think so. When they surprised my squad at north bunker and capped it in 30 seconds that did'nt seem like something idiots would do.

Btw why are you so mad at me? Wtf did i do to you?

I get the idea. What he means is there are too many people taking the sniper kit and trying to play the marksman kit role. Being a sniper in PR means you must go to a long distance well hidden spot with a wide view range. I live whole rounds playing like this. I wish there was some form of restriction for dumb snipers that don't play the kit right. Maybe sometime in the future PR can get a ranking system that means only people that are GOOD with kits can get them. Or people that are experienced in PR... But i guess we'll just have to live with them for now.

Solo-Recon, the problem with that is that people only get "Good with kits" or "experienced" by playing with those kits in the first place. If you can't get the kit until you become experienced with it, and you can't become experienced with it without getting the kit then, well, you're screwed.

Kenwayy, I know that you can go entire rounds with the sniper rifle without being killed. I saw it happen in C4 (aside from the time on OGM when I had to run and spend 10 minutes driving my sister to a class, only to come back and find that the front line had moved well beyond my hiding place, and I was now behind enemy lines.... thanks for the M-95 ;) ).

If you're extremely careful, you can last a very long time with a sniper rifle. This involves waiting for long periods of time until you see a high value target, taking your shot, and then withdrawing to a new location. It also involves having a spotter/escort.

I understand your point about Q-spot spamming, but I've just never seen it employed as effectively as you're describing. I understand that in principle it should work like that, but I just haven't seen it in-game.

The suggestion is a valid one. If implimented, I think we would see a very drastic increase in the amount of snipers treating their kit with genuine care. I have always supported general increases in spawn-time to make players value their lives more, but the sniper kit is the one where the players should value their lives the very most.
