Black screen when killed

Tried to search for it, but couldn't find.

I'd like to see the screen go completely black or white when you get killed.
It just don't feel right that you are still able to see after you are dead, and gives the game a feel of arcade..

Further Id like to see the screen flash white for just split second when you get hit instead of the red marker that shows you where you get hit from.

Anyone who have played insurgency knows what I mean.
-------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: (so first time readers can see)

BLACK SCREEN:

2 solutions:

1) Pitch black screen (only spawn time visible)
Keep in mind this occurs ONLY when you are KILLED.
If you are wounded I'd like to see the LSD vision.

2) Pitch black screen then gradually fading to normal.
I dont really like it. But if people don't have enough patience to wait for 30 seconds without looking at the Freaking SKY.. well... This is the next best option.

WHITE FLASH:

1) Works as suppression
2) Simulates state of shock as the result of a light or moderate wound
3) Remove hit direction indicator as you would NOT be able to feel the direction of a scratch... AND if it ain't a scratch you are already Dead or incapaciated, so no direction nessesary.
4) Adds to the game realism feel
5) Looks good :)

Well the black screen has been suggested many times, and it appears the DEVs have taken notice and are thinking about implimenting that (judging by dbzao's post). But I'd still like to discuss your second suggestion instead of just locking the thread.

Why do you think a white flash would be better? I understand that it would surely more accurately reflect the nature of getting shot. I've been punched a few times where I go "out" for a split second, as though someone turned off my brain and then turned it back on less than half a second later. I imagine a bullet hitting you may have a similar effect.

But I like the red flash *because* it shows where you got hit from. In real life, if you get hit in the back, you know you got hit in the back. You feel the transfer of inertia from the bullet to you, and therefore you have an awfully good sense of just where the bullet came from. I think the red flash is the only way to model this in-game.

Since a white flash would really only offer cosmetic realism, and the red flash models a realistic awareness that greatly impacts game play, I think we should stick with the red flash.

But I think I've probably made assumptions about your reasoning, Tequnique, so I'd like to hear your thoughts.

How about a white-out with the red flash bit, too?

I agree with not leaving out the red flash indicating the direction, but as is now - people get hit and as if not distracted at all, they will resume or start to fire back.

And that got me thinking, if your screen did have a "blackout" when you got critically wounded, and still had the red flash at the edges - would that increase gameplay? Or scare even more folks away?

Often, scaring more folks away = improve gameplay ;)

what we need is a suite that give electic shocks at the point your shot

What i'd like the hear is for you to automatically to say something along the lines of "i'm hit" when u take a shot tha decreases your health by 20%.

maybe you could save the dev's a load of code hassle by just closing your eyes and counting to 30?

Also, is there a way to disallow the use of the page up/page down radio commands when you're incapacitated/dead? Next time you're incapacitated, start pressing page up/page down and you'll start spamming "yes sir" and "no sir", this has been in since vBF2 and should be removed. It just sounds silly hearing "yes sir" 5 times or more in a row...

I like the white flash *because* :) it simulates the instant shock as the bullet penetrate and trigger your nerveendings (much like accidentally put your hand on a glowing stove)

As a martial arts instructor I have alot of experience on taking hits to the head and body. And many times I've seen "stars" prickle around in my head. Even when I've broken my arm, the body goes into a state of shock for a second.

Either way the white flash gives you an instant feel of surprise and gives some extra suppression effect .
The result is that you are not able to fire back which happens SO MANY TIMES. You see the enemy, you open fire and hit him, he fires back and you get's killed .... Blah

PRMM is about spotting the enemy first and the first one to hit SHOULD have the upper hand in the situation. A flash would make you hit the dirt or think about survival rather than turn around and fire like a maniac.

Lastly I don't believe that you will think much about where the bullet came from... If you get hit.. well I think even the best of soldiers take cover before shooting back.

AND you dont need to remove the direction indicator (even though I'd like that)

In real life, if you are hit... PRETTY sure you are not on your feet for very long... And if you are, you are NOT firing accurately :)

AND more importantly. If you are hit with a NON-LETHAL wound which just cut 0.5 cm into your flesh, its impossible to know the direction of the shot.

BUT, if you are hit with a LETHAL wound in the BACK, well yes you would know where you got it BUT you would NOT be able to fire back as your body is in shock.

So in short:
Scratch wounds are impossible to know the direction on (unless you hear the shot)

Lethal wounds you may detect the shot direction, but you would not be able to fire back.

Oh yeah, are we talking about a jet black screen where you can't see anything or a light transparent black screen where you can see but very little (Rainbow Six series)? Staring at black screen would be boring, even though I could be check the minimaps and stuff.

I think the hit direction indicator should remain.

Could it be possible to make you see stars when you get hit? this would be distracting but still let you shoot back better than LSD vision which is to simulate blood loss and that doesn't happen instantly

in combat the body fills you up with natural drugs that help you survive and even ignore the pain of wounds for example you may have heard of people shooting at enemies and continue to fire at enemies even while being hit by a bullet themselves

being hit when your calm and being hit when your truly terrified wont feel the same
