Just curious, why are there no sidearms in PR?

Because they are not standard issue in armies?

The officer and pilot both get side-arms. They are not standard issue, though I *think* you can order one for yourself at cost.

Welcome to the forums. This has been discussed before; NP, just use the search feature before asking a question or making a suggestion. :) I'll explain again, though. US troops are issued M9 pistols, just not all of them. This is the same way in other conventional armies, and is reflected in PR.

Generally, the only troops issued sidearms are military police (including Criminal Investigations Division), crew-served weapon gunners (medium machineguns, mortars, man-portable rocket launchers/recoilless rifles/ATGMs), tank crewmen (though carbines are becoming the norm), aviators and aircrew, snipers and their observers, special operations forces and certain officers and NCOs in front-line units.

In PR only the pilot, heavy anti-tank, sniper, special ops and officer/NCO kits receive pistols.

Bringing privately owned weapons on a deployment is a major no-no.
